*EDIT based on hotels reply - wow even hotels gaslight now! What an extremely unprofessional reply. Is this why you donât have cctv in your hotel, so you can accuse people of lying when thereâs an issue? First of all, if we had contacted you at 2 in the morning what exactly could have been done? When we finally got to sleep for a few hours we were rushing to leave to check out on time and messaged as soon as we sat down for breakfast after checkout. I really do not appreciate being made out to be a liar. I also have the message from yourselves saying confirming we could request a refund but as we did not book through Expedia you said you would contact the director to see what could be done but then you never replied. Hereâs the message:
âProviding a comfortable and peaceful environment for our guests is of utmost importance to us, and we regret that we fell short of meeting your expectations in this regard.
We are deeply sorry for the disturbance caused by the noise from the group of men in the downstairs lounge. Please know that we take such matters seriously, and we will address this issue with the utmost urgency to ensure it does not happen again in the future.
Please request a refund via Expediaâ
But thank you for your reply - now I know youâre all alive and officially ignoring me I will be contacting my bank for a chargeback.
The service from this hotel is absolutely appalling; my boyfriend and i stayed here for two nights last week. Firstly, i was not sent the check in details and if I hadnât had emailed them an hour before we were due to arrive I wouldnât have received them, which wouldâve left me very confused seeming as you have to enter multiple codes to get to your room because there are no staff in this hotel, which leads me into our biggest problem of the stay. For some reason this hotel thinks itâs a good idea to open a communal room in an unstaffed hotel with no cctv or and no instructions of who to contact if, inevitably, people are in this communal room making noise until 6am and you cannot sleep. We stayed on a Monday and Tuesday night, on the Monday night there were a group of men (most of which were not staying in the hotel) shouting and playing music and running around barefoot on the furniture until 4am. On the Tuesday night there were a couple playing loud music and loudly arguing with eachother from 2am-6am, they were shouting so loudly at eachother that we could hear them with our earplugs in and we were staying upstairs when they were downstairs. My boyfriend shouted at them to be quiet and received a threatening reply back. The possibility of something awful happening and the police having to be called mixed with the arguing all night meant we got no sleep.
Naturally we were not best pleased so requested a refund from no.53 a week ago, on the morning we left the hotel, to which they agreed. However, I am now being ghosted by Sarah and have not received a reply or the refund. It is illegal and against the consumer rights act to not refund once you have agreed to so I will be seeking action through my bank account if this issue is not resolved.
do not stay here if you want a safe and quiet...
Read moreThe first night in town I was on my own. I booked into the same place that my companions and I were staying the next night. My overnight stay was lovely. But the next day turned into a hotel nightmare, so buckle up.||I stayed in a second-floor walk-up. That doesnât sound bad until you realize that in the UK, the floor you walk in on is the ground floor â or what we in America call the first floor. The second-floor walk-up was on the third floor!||Fortunately, there was a porter to help me carry bags and I was soon settled in for the evening. The porter and cleaners were the only staff on site. That's important.||The next day one of my roommates arrived. We couldnât get into our rooms until later in the day, so we had time to kill. My roommate had booked the room, and we werenât worried. We had breakfast in a nearby restaurant and then we wandered off to an art exhibit.||Upon returning later in the day, we learned that they had moved our bags to a different guest house on nearby Queen Street. They said the reservation from Booking.com had two people on the reservation, so they put us into a room designed for two people. There were three of us and it would not have worked.||On top of that, theyâd given my friend us a security code for a room in the original location. She opened the door. There were three beds.||No. 53 maintained that the room wasnât 100% ready for visitors. Just by looking at the room, I could tell it was more than acceptable.||Remember, the only staff on site is a porter and cleaners. The porter this day seemed like a non-native English speaker. Thereâs no front desk, no concierge, and no one you can talk to on the phone.||The ensuing discussion was via text. We couldnât text them directly, so communication went verbally from my friend to the porter who texted âthe boss.â ||They wouldnât budge one iota. They wouldnât get on a phone call with us. The âbossâ went to lunch or dinner or whatever and left us hanging. ||We eventually booked another hotel and walked away extraordinarily disappointed. And thatâs being quite polite.||The property is managed by Hotel Around Town. As a result of this experience, I would recommend avoiding all...
