Nestled on a charming side street off Princess Street, Papii boasts a cozy atmosphere that greets you with the fragrant symphony of coffee and the joyful chorus of breakfast feasting.
Our mocha and iced mocha adventure turned out to be more coffee than cocoa, but we trudged ahead, encouraged by the heft of the servings that could double as dumbbells.
With grand aspirations, we summoned the eggs royale and eggs Benedict with bacon onto our culinary stage. Alas, the hollandaise seemed to have missed its seasoning seminar, leaving us in saucy sadness. The visual allure of the dishes cruelly betrayed our taste buds. Oh, the menu prices, a secret recipe for soaring expectations dashed.
Yet, a bright spot shone through the clouds of under-seasoning—the service! Efficient gentlemen danced around, sprinkling welcoming charm over our misadventures in taste.
In the grand tapestry of experiences, Papii’s threads weave a middling pattern. Three stars sparkle in the review sky, a constellation of potential slightly obscured by seasoning...
Read moreIncredible little spot which I discovered serendipitously. I was attempting to escape the rain and passed Urban Angel (1 minute) away and they had a 90 minute wait. Unwilling to wait this long I decided to explore other places and was quoted 20 minutes for Sunday brunch (around 11:30) - peak hours everywhere on this street. The venue is a bit small so it is worth bearing in mind if you’re in a large group. Ideal for groups of 2-4 at best.
The waitress took my order promptly - I ordered the very merry berry smoothie, latte and customised my waffles (looks like their specialty) with strawberries and Nutella. I waited less than 5 minutes and was shown my table. The drinks arrived in 2 minutes followed by the waffles.
The cafe had a lot of turnover and the service matched the speed. Overall, I can’t recommend this place enough! The waffles are simply delicious and the smoothie and coffee were both great! All for ~£13.

Read morePapii is a nice cozy breakfast spot. The people working there are extremely polite and tentative to our needs. Their food is AMAZING. The waffles are cooked to perfection; crunchy outside with a soft flakey interior. Add to that, they are very generous with their toppings. The egg Benedict was on a toasted English muffin and cooked exactly how you like it. My husband and I shared our dishes, but when it comes to eggs we are the extreme opposites. I like mine to be runny and gooey, but my husband likes them well done and no gooieness to it. They were very accommodating and made it exactly how we ordered it.
The staff is the best around. The first time we visited they kept on apologizing, because we waited for a while before being seated. The second time we visited, we were the first customers. They were very welcoming and remembered us. Since the place was empty when we arrived, they let my son watch them making his waffles, which...
