stopped in here for a late bite on sunday night, had read many good reviews online. we got the salmon nigiri, spicy tuna maki, and pork katsu curry. the fish was good, nothing wrong with it but by no means knocked my socks off. the roll was a bit different than what we’re used to across the pond. the katsu however made me want to travel back to edinburgh on a cold winter day just to order this dish again. the katsu itself was crispy, well seasoned, perfect actually. despite parts of it bathing in the curry, it remained intact with a good crunch. the curry itself was deep and flavorful (could use some more potato). i am curious about the cod curry - we would try that the next time we come. it’s a tiny place, small staff. could expect some wait times but our food came out quickly all things considered. do note, it’s cash or bank transfers only.

A small cosy, family run Japanese restaurant, with pleasant people and tasty well presented plates. One can have desent 🍣 sushi plates as well as hot plates, soups, oriental dishes all of high standards at reasonable prices. Impressed by the fact that my tea cup was replenished free of charge and staff was constantly around on your service. The sushi kitchen was in public view and dishes were freshly prepared, whearas the hot plates where coming from the back side of the restaurant. There is a sitting limit of one and a half hour. They missed a straight five points and higher tips for a not working WiFi as they said during our last visit and also due to the fact they accepted no credit cards and the bill was hand written. However I would go again and would advise as I did myself to make a reservation to avoid surprises due to limited space.

Hidden gem of a place. Fantastic mostly Japanese food at great prices. My partner and I ordered far too much food, but still managed to finish it all. The portions are very generous and everything was fresh and beautifully presented. The sashimi was great as was the soft shell crab tempura. When the bill came it was so small that we thought they'd made a mistake! It is a very small restaurant and was busy on arrival at 6pm mid week in late Feb, Definitely worth booking in advance. The restaurant is cash only and doesn't have an alcohol licence, so it's bring your own bottle if you want an alcoholic drink with your meal. They do offer soft drinks. The service was attentive without being intrusive. I would highly recommend and will be visiting again when next in Edinburgh.

Hi I am leaving a note here for the experience of delivering today 30/03/2025. Spring has arrived and we were all very busy. I picked up 2 deliveries this evening. One for Morningside and the other for Peterstone place. Both in Edinburgh. As a rider, I don't know how long the order has been sitting, or when the order was placed. As I receive the job on the app, I decide whether or not there and then, to accept and make my way to you. On this occasion I was riding from viewforth which isn't far at all. On arrival, I saw two customers waiting, and I know it's a narrow walk in, and you don't want the door open for too long. As I checked my phone, I saw my two orders, I decided to confirm orders and proceed to put both orders in my thermal bag. I was stopped by (the Mother of the house) and handed an initial small white bag with one of the orders. I said I have two orders here and sent on my way. This is NOT a complaint or criticism, it's feedback for yourself about my experience. Sunny, busy, but like you you want a great dining experience and I want a great delivering experience. I had to pick up another order on my way to Morningside. So I had 3. 2 from you. Now I don't know what is in the bag and I don't know how long the order has been placed but when I arrived at Morningside, the main brown bag was seeping and torn from the bottom. I did ask the customer to check to make sure they were OK and there order. The customer said it's fine. As soon as I complete order, I cannot go back. So I don't know if the customer has contacted you. Another reason is I have little sauce bottles in my thermal bag, which I didn't notice, and possibly was from the customer at Morningside. Did they need this sauce to have a satisfactory quality experience 🤔 could I have been told to ride a bit carefully due to the contents of said delivery, but hindsight is great afterwards. Is it a packaging issue? I don't know I just wanted to let you know, because I didn't notice the little sauce bottles in my bag until I got to my third delivery. Anyway, I hope we can both learn something today. I will try to be more patient, try to pick my moment when it's busy to make sure I have everything I should be delivering and the contents of the delivery incase riding with extra care is needed. Please read this as your worker who delivers giving honest feedback to help prevent issues for our customers takeaway...

The Bento Box has came back to this restaurant. So, on 22nd November 2023, my wife and I visited to eat the Bento Box for our lunch. We ordered two different Bento Box. Two Bentos were very good! We remembered Japanese Bento Box. So good! All staffs were also very kind as usual. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!

After a long time, I had lunch at Chizuru-tei today on 30th June 2023. All staffs and foods were very good as usual.

On the very cold day of 27th November, I wanted to eat a very warm Japanese Udon in there. This restaurant offered the Beef Udon (肉うどん) to us. It was very very good. After eating, we warmed up! All staffs were very warm hospitality for us. Looking forward to visiting again soon to this real Japanese cuisines restaurant! Thank you!

On 15th January 2022, we visited this Japanese restaurant for our lunch. All staffs were fine and very good as usual. All meal dishes were also very good. Looking forward to visiting again soon! Thank you!

Today I visited this restaurant with my wife after easing Lockdown. The owner and staff were fine and the taste of foods was very good as usual. I will come back again soon.

On 25th Christmas Day 2019, we visited this restaurant for our dinner before Lockdown. We enjoyed very much the meals as usual. And owner and staffs are also very very kind as usual. During Lockdown, they are managing Takeaway...

We visited on a Saturday afternoon after doing some shopping in the local area - we were very impressed with the range of delicious Japanese dishes on the menu, the fact that we could BYOB if we wanted to. We were promptly sat down and given menus - after ordering we were told that the sushi kitchen was going through a busy spell and that the food would be a while - though this was communicated to us clearly, at the time, we were still a little disappointed as the restaurant was busy when we arrived but in the time it took for us to get our food, the restaurant had emptied completely, so we were the only customers in there once we had our food - it took over 30 minutes to arrive as the kitchen was busy fulfilling delivery app orders. Admittedly I was slightly hangry by the time the food arrived. All that said - the sushi was exceptional, all freshly prepared with great care and nicely presented. It was very good value and delivered with friendly service. Visitors should note that it...
