Haymarket — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

The Haymarket pub is a great location to pop in for a drink or some grub! I visited the bar on a Thursday evening with friends and we found it to be exactly what we were looking for!

Staff: The staff were very friendly and atrentive! They let me taste test a few of their Ale's before deciding on the drink I wanted. They also walked around the pub near closing time to let the customers know how long was left.

The Layout: The pub and bar is laid out in a but open plan style. There is plenty of space within the bar but there may not be a lot of seating available if you hit it at a busy time! The bar counter has a load of taps with a wide variety of beers, ales, stout and cixsr to choose from. There is something for everyone to choose here!

Food: From the menu it looks like this is a good pub for pub grub however, we did not have any on the night we visited.

Location: The pub is located on the corner in the middle of Haymarket and its just a 10 minute walk from Princes St. Ideal location if you wanted to get away from the busy tourist area but not be too far at the same time. The pub is right along the tram line and the Haymarket train station is just around the corner with a bus and tram platform as well so you can get to go from here to anywhere in Edinburgh.

Overall Opinion: I highly recommend swinging by the Haymarket pub if you are in Edinburgh. The friendly atmosphere and great selection of beers will definitely have me coming back the next time that I am...

Only had drinks but super fast service not that friendly , lovely interior and Christmas decorations, clean and nice bar in general. Only thing annoyed me was my husband found I phone13 in toilet and handed it into the bar (not so much as a thanks ) only to have the bar man and manager stand at the corner of the bar trying to get into the phone , instead of waiting for someone to call and find out the location, they completely locked the phone , when I asked had anyone called the phone I was told no and its easy to get it unlocked and it's an expensive phone I doubt the owner will get their phone back 🙄. Sadly . I wouldn't return to this place .

P.s after reading through the reviews this place needs to pull their socks up , owner needs to get new managers and/or new staff including cooks for such a central bar it has too many bad reviews and they're continuously the same type of complaints over a number of years, not just recent , obviously someone's slacking , if you're being pulled up on the same problems and years later STILL has not...

After we had been seated, we looked at the menu on our table and then went to the bar to order. We were told that we couldn't eat food in our section even though there were no signs saying this and menus on our table. We moved to the dining area. we ordered a fish sharing plate and when it arrived, there was more batter than fish even though no batter was mentioned on the menu. We then waited over 40 minutes for our food. The dining area wasn't very full and the people who were sitting there were also getting annoyed about the tardiness of their meals. Just before we got up and walked out because our food was so late, our food arrived. My pie was more pastry than filling although the filling was alright. My Dad's steak was well done on one side and rare on the other, my grandma said it was the worst fish she has had in a long time, my sister said the only nice thing on her plate was her mushy peas and my mum said her veggies were watery and her meal was... alright.
