The Haymarket pub is a great location to pop in for a drink or some grub! I visited the bar on a Thursday evening with friends and we found it to be exactly what we were looking for! Staff: The staff were very friendly and atrentive! They let me taste test a few of their Ale's before deciding on the drink I wanted. They also walked around the pub near closing time to let the customers know how long was left. The Layout: The pub and bar is laid out in a but open plan style. There is plenty of space within the bar but there may not be a lot of seating available if you hit it at a busy time! The bar counter has a load of taps with a wide variety of beers, ales, stout and cixsr to choose from. There is something for everyone to choose here! Food: From the menu it looks like this is a good pub for pub grub however, we did not have any on the night we visited. Location: The pub is located on the corner in the middle of Haymarket and its just a 10 minute walk from Princes St. Ideal location if you wanted to get away from the busy tourist area but not be too far at the same time. The pub is right along the tram line and the Haymarket train station is just around the corner with a bus and tram platform as well so you can get to go from here to anywhere in Edinburgh. Overall Opinion: I highly recommend swinging by the Haymarket pub if you are in Edinburgh. The friendly atmosphere and great selection of beers will definitely have me coming back the next time that I am in Edinburgh!

We ordered the Cullen Skink that should have had smoked haddock in it, as written on the menu. We ate the same thing at the same franchise restaurant in Glasgow just the day before. The dish was amazing in Glasgow, but here it was just an unsalted potato soup with NO fish in it. We explained this to both the waiter and the "manager" and they lied to our faces that the fish is blended (ha ha). I asked the manager if she ever tasted this soup to know how fish tastes like in it and she said she didn't because she doesn't like the soup and the final argument was that the meals come prepacked from a food supplier and they would have no reason to lie and not to put the fish in it. The 1 star mark is for the lie and the attitude of the personell (and, of course, for the horrible soup, knowing how good it could have been should it have been made with all the ingredients written in the menu, including fish). Very bad experience. Very superficial attitude of the staff and manager.

When I 1st ordered, I thought that ÂŁ23 was a bit steep for burger/chips and beer. However, soon changed my mind when presented with the meal. A double sized burger, along with bacon, tomato, cheese and onion, with some order of salty chips. Food was a good as it looked, accompanied by a pint of Nicholson's Pale Ale. Haymarket pub, Edinburgh is well worth a visit! First time here in about 37 years. Used to be a regular haunt when I worked close by in my late teens/ early twenty's. Magnificentđ

Weâve been walking by for a week so on our wander to find food this evening we stopped in. I had the steak pie and hubby had a cheese burger. The pie literally could have gone in my pocket and been fine it was so tightly made. lol Just beef in crust. The side veg were not really cooked except the carrots which looked so old I felt sorry for them. Husband said the burger was good. The folks were friendly and the atmosphere was very âold worldâ as we say. Dark and cozy.

Cosy, historic pub with a central, wood-panelled bar, offering both bar snacks and smart dining.
