This quaint Cafe was perfect every time we visited. The butternut squash soup had a lovely curry flavor that even my shops couldn't resist and the sandwiches were made with delicious, fresh ingredients - the focaccia was amazing! For breakfast, I've never had fluffier or creamer scrambled/omlette eggs - they were literally an inch thick on the sandwich - and the creamy, melted cheese tied in with the eggs and bread and sausage for an unbelievable flavor and texture profile. It was difficult to eat slowly, but the generous portion made it last anyway. Finally, the dirty Chai latte I had was literally the best in my entire life. Literally! The mouth feel was thick and creamy, smooth and perfectly spiced. I shouldn't have be surprised that they used oat milk, which is didn't have to request and didn't include a high price point. Overall, I highly recommend stopping in and spending a moment chatting with the lovely couple who own and operate this café; you won't regret it.
Edit to add: after reading many of the other reviews, I'd also like to say that the prices seem very reasonable and are even cheaper than the bigger cafe just steps away (breakfast roll starting at 3.5 vs 4.5, etc.) and the obvious quality is worth every pence. Even with the train station right outside the door (hugely convenient to come here before our 8am departure, since they open at 7am!!), we didn't have any trouble communicating when ordering or between ourselves with a full dining area. There was quiet conversation and pleasant...
Read moreAs part of our campervan journey across the beautiful Aberdeenshire region, my wife and I spent 3 days in Edinburgh during the festival. By chance, we spotted this charming cafe right across from Haymarket station and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we made during our trip!
We were so impressed that we ended up visiting every day, even when our adventures took us to different parts of the city. The breakfasts and sandwiches were consistently delicious, but the real standout for me was the âHaggis Meltââa cheesy toastie filled with haggis. Despite my initial hesitation, I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty and mild the haggis was. Iâm now a fan of this lamb-based âsalamiâ!
The staff here are incredibly friendly and made us feel like old friends. They went above and beyond, offering great suggestions on things to do and places to visit, ensuring we didnât miss any of Edinburghâs most beautiful spots.
We wholeheartedly recommend this cafe to anyone in the area. Whether youâre a local or a visitor, make sure to pop inâyou...
Read moreDuring our recent 3-day stay in Edinburgh as part of our Scottish tour, we stumbled upon this delightful cafe right across from Haymarket station. It quickly became our go-to spot, and for good reason!
Their full Scottish breakfast is simply outstandingâdefinitely one of the best we had during our tour. Itâs not only reasonably priced but also packed with flavor and served generously. Every bite felt like a warm embrace, perfect for starting the day.
We also tried their club sandwich, and it was an absolute treat! Made with lightly toasted sourdough bread, it was both crispy and soft, with a perfect balance of fillings that left us craving more.
The staff here are incredibly kind and welcoming, making each visit a pleasure. Whether youâre a local or just passing through, we highly recommend popping in for a meal. You wonât be...
