Food gives us beautiful energy, and the right kind of energy always finds its match.
By chance, I stumbled upon “八戒的咖啡小屋“, this name, brimming with an artistic charm. I like the Chinese font on the sign and the sight of small tables cleverly joined to form a larger one from the window. More so, the cafe's quiet, mysterious vibe, tucked away in a hidden alley, intrigued me.
After work today, I finally visited. The food was as delightful as I had imagined. I couldn't resist trying everything on the menu, having each dish with eagerness… In the middle of this indulgence, I wondered if there's a term in the West that mirrors “性情中人”?
In this foreign land, loneliness often shadows me. But today, a warm light seemed to glow for me, I met a kind-hearted owner and tasted soul-soothing, almost magical dishes.
I've always seen myself as a romantic, yet most time, life lacks poetic or cinematic quality. As a result, I have always been on a quest, hoping to find unexpected beauty to break through the daily grey.
The chef's creations today deeply touched and filled me with joy, bringing me into the moment, and making me appreciate the beauty of life. Whenever I feel like giving up on seeking life's little wonders, I need to remind myself of this moment. After all, there are people in the world who approach life with sincerity and zest.
As we grow up, why do our dreams fade? If there are people in the world who can hold onto their initial spark, so can I. At “Pigsy’s Den’, I rediscovered my courage and inspiration...
Read morePigsy's Den is an absolute gem tucked away in the culinary landscape, and my recent visit was nothing short of a gastronomic delight! From the moment I stepped through the door, the warm and inviting atmosphere enveloped me, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. The menu boasts an array of delectable dishes, each one a testament to the culinary mastery of the kitchen. The Char Siew Bao, with its pillowy-soft exterior and succulent, flavour-packed filling, was a true revelation. The Har Ghow was a delicate dance of flavours and textures, a testament to the chef's attention to detail. The Gyoza Pork and Gyoza Mushroom were equally impressive, perfectly pan-seared to a crispy perfection that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The star of the show was most definetley the dipping sauce. no words. The service was impeccable, with the staff embodying a genuine passion for their craft. What truly elevated my visit, however, was the delightful conversation with the owner, Michael, whose passion for food and dedication to creating a memorable dining experience was truly inspiring. To top it all off, the rose tea was a fragrant and refreshing palate cleanser that added a touch of elegance to the entire meal. Pigsy's Den is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary haven where passion and flavour converge to create an extraordinary dining adventure. Five stars hardly seem enough to capture the magic of...
Read moreMy husband and I visited 3 days in a row for the food and the company of the owner.
We must have tried nearly a third of what was on the menu in that time and all of it was absolutely delicious.
The radish cakes were definitely memorable as I've never had anything like it before.
The chee choong fun was special, very morish and my husband ended up drinking every last bit of the sauce.
The bak kut teh is perfect on a chilly day/night. Something very comforting about this dish. You could polish off several bowls of rice eating this stew!
If you fancy something sweet, tong yuen is a must. The small chewy balls of delight in a moreish sweet gingery soup.
We had many more dishes than what I've listed above and we'll definitely go again to try others on the menu.
Tip for meat fans: if you see something you like on the menu and it has meat in it, call at least 24 hours in advance to check if it's available to avoid disappointment. The owner takes the marinating of meat very seriously (which makes the food very special) and a lot of the meat dishes are made to order with 24...
