Terrible Sunday roast and service. I don’t usually like to complain; however, on this occasion I believe I am justified. We did have a positive experience the day before (breakfast) so our group of eight decided to return for the Sunday roast that is advertised. We were extremely disappointed with the food. As we went to the bar to order our meals, the woman working there made us feel like an inconvenience and her attitude was horrendous. She had no customer service skills what so ever and was rude. Her attitude was as if she was rushed off her feet but the place was dead as we arrived around 1pm. Now we know why it was so empty. Some of us wanted the 3 roast option - we were told that there was no beef. When we asked if we could just have the two (pork + turkey ) she aggressively told us no. I ordered no peas … when it arrived with peas I was told they couldn’t separate the veg as it was already mixed (this would have been fine but was not communicated at the till). When the meals came out they were wrong, pork arrived with no crackling, some came with gravy and some without. A turkey dish was delayed because the wrong meat was put on the plate - this took ages to be resolved and then arrived with no stuffing. When asked where the stuffing was our server went back to the kitchen and about 15 mins later arrived with two, small burned hockey puck looking stuffing disks that I wouldn’t feed to a dog. The menu advertised unlimited Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes, so we asked for more which arrived after we had all finished eating. The whole meal was a shambles with no apology from the staff. I can see that there is another bad review on here about the Sunday roast that was posted about 3 months ago ! I’m surprised nothing has been done to fix this as the pub itself has so...
Read moreUnfortunately my visit to the Amber Rose wasn’t as pleasant as I had expected. Firstly, I ordered a burger and pint which I was surprised to find out cost £8.49 rather than the £7.99 advertised. Upon asking the bar staff why it was this price I was told it was because I had went for one of the alcoholic drinks rather than a soft drink. Fair enough £8.49 for a burger and pint is reasonable enough. Later though, I found out this was a load of rubbish!! It was because I was given curly fries that it was an extra 50p, how the bar staff couldn’t tell me this when I asked is beyond me. The quality of the chicken on the burger was very poor, however the curly fries were lovely. Fast forward an hour, I was surprised to find that on returning from the toilet my half full drink had been taken from the table by one of the bar staff (2 other people were sitting at the table & my coat was on the chair). Obviously irate, I approached the bar staff that stated “it would be too difficult to ask their staff members if any of them picked up the drink”. The whole 6 staff members!!! Anyway, after speaking with a “manager” called Bree she advised me that there was nothing they could do, and it must have been another customer who had taken the drink from the table! In a nutshell, the food is poor, the staff don’t know their own menu and customer service is terrible. I will not be returning to The Amber Rose – I would have had a better night buying a burger from McDonalds, a can of beer from a convenience store and sitting in Princes...
Read moreWe had booked a table, was given a very warm welcome and taken to our table. We were close to the music duo setting up so were asked if we wanted to be further away, which was very thoughtful. The Duo were excellent singing a whole bunch of crowd pleasers. The bar service let all this down. The staff had no sense of urgency which meant waiting for a while for drinks. They looked completely un-motivated and unhappy at their work. One bar staff walked past me to serve someone else further up the bar. If they had been waiting longer, fair enough but she could have said rather than blank me. I watched a barperson serve 2 gins to a customer in glasses with lipstick around the lip! I watched another bar person pick up 4 glasses to being pouring drinks into by using their 4 finger inside the glasses! In Covid times this is all disgraceful. When I got served I watched my drink be poured into a measure, but it was nowhere near full when it was tipped in. I complained, they disputed saying it was full but did re-pour with no further issue. The second one they poured was over-poured as when they started pouring it missed the measure. The staff going around customer tables were so much better they looked happy, were chatty and kept the...
