A really perfect example of a 'spoons at its very best. The building is grade 1 listed and is phenomenal with incredible decor - the ceilings and windows are lovely. 'spoons has done its usual minimalist conversion to turn it into a pub. From the outside the building looks like it will have a dark interior, but there is extensive glazing in the main bar area which makes it light and quite bright on a sunny day. The bar's design is very in keeping with the style of the building and of a suitably impressive size. There are several smaller side rooms with a more intimate atmosphere. If the menu suits your meal preference, it is a great place to stop for refreshments - free refills on tea and coffee. As always, the selection of drinks is extensive and both food and drinks are well priced. No background music, just a pleasant rumble of human voices creates an interesting atmosphere - it feels like a public building, but not a boozer. Well worth visiting even if you don't want to eat or drink. Fabulous!

On our first trip to Edinburgh, the one thing on my Mother’s bucket list was to get some damn good fish and chips before boarding our plane back to London, and I think I can confidently say that we found it here! The fish was a decent size, and the chips were just fantastic — airy and flaky and not the least bit greasy at all. The mushy peas have to be the best I’ve ever had and paired absolutely perfectly with the fish. The pricing was fair and they had many options for sizing, with and without drinks, needless to say that you’ll be able to leave feeling satisfied at every price point. The atmosphere is very busy like a pub on the weekend a big football game is going on, us being from the city didn’t mind that one bit at all. Kudos to our server Puneet who was courteous and fast in taking our order and serving us despite the busy dinnertime rush, he seriously deserves a raise! Will be coming back here during our next trip to Edinburgh due to this guy.

Terrible experience at this Wetherspoons. Arrived and luckily found a booth for four of us to sit in straight away as we had luggage and needed space for our bags. Decided over the course of 10mins what we wanted to eat and drink and then ordered via the app, however the app wouldn't accept payment via Google Pay despite this being one of the options presented and rejected the payment twice before manually entering the same card details and it being accepted. Waited a further 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive, followed seconds later by our food. Unfortunately a second waitress then told us we couldn't sit in the main area as our son is only 13 and had to move, with all of our luggage, drinks and food to another area in a side room. When asked if there were signs informing customers they told us there were signs in the main entrance but that "they probably aren't big enough for you to have noticed". Complained to the manager who couldn't have made it more apparent that he didn't care as it was "the council's fault we couldn't sit there and not his" and despite offering an entirely insincere apology said there was nothing he could do to improve the signage and didn't offer any form of discount off our drinks or food for the poor experience. To make matters worse the food had only been luke warm and the 4 meals arrived in two lots, 5mins apart. Utterly disgraceful.

Well where do I start. Visited for lunch with four others. The place was packed. We ordered and paid for our food and drinks. When our food was brought to us the waiter spilt the bowl of coleslaw down my brother's back. While he was away to the toilet to get cleaned up I tried my red wine only to find it was sour. I asked to swap it for a glass of Prosecco which I was promptly told no. By the time my brother got cleaned up his plate of food was cold. The manager came to speak to us. There was no offer of a replacement meal or even a replacement bowl of coleslaw. The manager was so rude and arrogant and proceeded to argue and talk over us Infront of a full room of customers. He was totally out of order. All the food was disgusting, reheated chips and onion rings. Cold food. We will never visit a Wetherspoons place again. Would NOT recommend this disgusting place. Shame on the manager of this place.

Good pub, city centre location with much cheaper beer than other central pubs. There was a beer festival on while we were there, and we took advantage, It was great to have so many real ales available in one place. We both ordered the spicy half chicken and it was well-cooked and very hot. Chips were okay as well. The only issue I have is the menu. Recently in Wetherspoons I've struggled to find something to choose. A lot of the pub favourites are not available, no meat chilli, no steak pie, no lamb curry. While it still represents good value for money, I'd probably be willing to pay a bit more to get a decent steak pie.
