Experience at Auld Hundred: Unacceptable Discrimination and Poor Service
The experience at Auld Hundred was absolutely terrible. Two incidents of unacceptable behavior marred our dining experience. Firstly, the deputy manager, who was chubby with blue eyes and dark hair, refused to serve another beer to my friend based solely on his French accent. He was no where near tipsy or drunk. It was our first drink of the day and my french friend got refused based solely on his accent. We may have raised our voice a little bit we're passionate about football. The Euro cup was on. We wasn't aggressive or violent. And she didn't even give us a warning. This discriminatory action is unacceptable and goes against the fundamental principles of equality and respect for all individuals.
Secondly, the food itself was disappointing. We ordered a Sunday roast which cost £60 for three people. However, it was clear that the meal was not fresh as it had likely been frozen prior to being served. I will not give this to my dog milo. The quality of the meal did not justify the price we paid. To add insult to injury, we were even refused alcohol during our meal.
The service provided by Amelie, the server with red hair, further added to our disappointment. Her behavior towards us was unwarranted as she kicked us out without any valid reason other than “just being human beings.” This incident left a bitter taste in our mouths and we felt disrespected as customers.
In conclusion, it is strongly recommended that you save your money and consider dining at another establishment instead of Auld Hundred. The discriminatory actions of their staff and subpar food quality do not make for an enjoyable dining experience. I am a manager of a pub in the Midlands, this is unacceptable behaviour.

Read moreAuld Hundred Restaurant in Edinburgh is a hidden gem that truly deserves recognition. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the tone for a fantastic dining experience.
The food is outstanding, with a menu that delights the palate. I was particularly impressed by the Channa Masala; while it might not be the traditional Indian take, it offered a delightful twist that was both flavorful and satisfying. The soup of the day was equally impressive, showcasing fresh ingredients and a depth of flavor that left me wanting more.
Auld Hundred also boasts an excellent selection of beers, perfect for pairing with your meal. The highlight for many, though, is the extensive collection of Scotch whiskies. Whether you're a connoisseur or a casual drinker, you're sure to find something that suits your taste.
What truly sets this restaurant apart is the exceptional service. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about ensuring a memorable dining experience. Their recommendations are spot on, adding a personal touch that enhances the overall visit.
Reservations are highly recommended, as this place can get busy, and it’s easy to see why. Auld Hundred is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy great food, amazing drinks, and top-notch service in the heart of Edinburgh. I can’t...
Read moreCame in for a late lunch on a Tuesday afternoon around 14. Moderately populated place with two waitresses taking care of about nine tables total. Good experience in the beginning, nice chit chat and information about the menu and fast drinks. However, as more and more tables left the service got slower. Being in the service industry myself I can understand this, however, after ordering two sticky toffee puddings for dessert and being the only table waiting for food in the restaurant, I heard the bell for our dessert go off. And it was close to ten minutes for our dessert to come from the service window to the table. The worst part about it was that the chef himself came out to the restaurant to look at where the waitresses were after ringing the food bell three additional times. Upon receiving the desserts it was obvious that they had been sitting for a while as there were luke warm at best with a pool of melted ice cream and cold toffee sauce.
That being said, the food here is quite delicious despite being cold- however this is at no fault of the kitchen staff. I commend them for their efforts and for their food quality.
4.5 for food and quality. 2 for...
