I'm not that fussy about food, but the place and food has to be clean. The waiters nails were disgusting I ordered a sparkling water and it came screwed open, full to the brink that is totally against the bottling mechanism of sparking water. They must have filled it up from some value pack, hygiene issues obviously Glasses not clean You can see the kitchen walls from the floor and not looking promising
What are you eating? Well I lived in Turkey for 20 years, my father owned two turkish restaurants and my brother is a Le Cordon Bleu chef. I have a bit of interest in food and respect the profession Chicken iskender :) This doesn't exist as a concept so hats off to Meze Meze. It isn't doner though it is thinly sliced chicken in sauce and oil topped by yogurt. I didn't taste it because it looked diabolical Lamb doner! well it must have been an iskender, Again not doner not elephant leg either. It was covered with the same sauce as the Chicken iskender looked terrible Patatas bravas :) friend cubes drenched in oil, not bad Kalamari; Pretty sure it was from frozen. Poor Chicken Skewer. Large but tasteless Sigara borek. very poorly made chese puffs. however well prepared not drenched in oil. tasteless cheese though Ezme. really really poor diced up (super small cubes) vegetables Humus. OMG I love humus but this was so poor I'm really feeling disgusted i ate some.
verdict. don't waste your money at this place. McDonald's is far more better, at...
Read moreI went for an evening meal with 3 other people, there were two meat eaters, one coeliac and one vegan coeliac. Unfortunately there were issues with the electrics in the kitchen which meant there was only the cold food options available. We went with the chefs selection platter. About 8 small sharing plates came out and it wasn't looking great for me (being a picky meat eater) I tried a couple of things and wasn't totally convinced, everyone else was enjoying it, then more dishes came out, (oooh look potatoes!) Ok, things were looking up, I tried a couple more things, MOAR DISHES! oh crickey, what's that? Chicken legs! I'm happy! Tucking in to the odd dish around the table, EVEN MORE DISHES! At this point I was getting stuffed. Everyone else looked content, I was nibbling on the potatoes and mushroom dish and the calamari. HERE! HAVE ONE MORE DISH! oh I'll have a nibble! We left with happy bellys! Considering they had some issues with electrics in the kitchen they provided excellent food...
Read moreThis restaurant is a rip off. Poor quality food with expensive prices. Expect if you order something for the plate to be swamped in fancy looking salad. For example Chicken Skewer includes just 1 satay and mountain of salad. £55 we paid for 2 people and we are both still starving.
The woman who served us told us that they were selling competitive prices for the area. Really??? I don't believe this. Lived in Edinburgh my whole life and have ate at many restaurants on Rose street and have never left any of them unsatisfied.
Also worth pointing out the food came in less than 5 minutes. Not convinced it was cooked fresh to order. I would expect for these prices it should be.
Ada or pomegranate a short walk away near the Omni center is a lot better. Higher quality food with amazing portion sizes. Run by people who really care about the food and will make sure you leave satisfied.
This place I will avoid. I feel like I am a tourist who has been ripped off but in...
