Voujon. — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

I can sum up the service at Voujon with two stories: firstly, the time I ordered a banana split, it seemed to take a long time to arrive so we joked they'd gone to Tesco to buy bananas... and in walks a waiter through the front door with a Tesco bag full of bananas. None of this "I'm sorry, we've run out" nonsense here! Secondly, on another visit, I got something caught in my throat and started choking. A waiter rushed over to see if I was okay, and shouted over to the bar to get me some water. I kept choking and was really starting to struggle, but the water never seemed to arrive. Eventually the waiter chased it up, and along came a glass of water completely with ice, mint and fruit! Luckily, the great service and attention to detail is accompanied by brilliant food with a wide vegetarian selection. Newington is spoilt for local restaurants, and Voujon is definitely one...

Had previously eaten here and decided to order a takeaway. Had chicken and fish pakora starters.. Chicken lovely... Struggled to taste any fish. Mains.. I had chicken tandoori tikka masala. Absolutely delicious! My wife ordered the Voujon mixed tandoori... Which I was told while waiting 25 minutes for the order needed to be cooked perfectly. Sadly, it wasn't. Chicken was dry with a strange taste... Vaguely soapy? Most of the rest of the bbq was difficult to determine... There might have been a prawn.. Cremated beyond recognition. For this feast Voujon charges £15.75...not good. Our usual takeaway has recently closed and we were hoping Voujon would become our new go to... Blew...

Consistently fantastic food every time we visit. The Voujon is a warm and welcoming restaurant with an intimate atmosphere. Excellent decor, spotlessly clean and offers versitility for small or large parties.

For a starter, their kebabs, tandooried with sauce and salad is superb. We also love their poppadoms and pickle tray Every main we have eaten has been packed with flavour and fresh ingredients whatever our choice. And don't forget to order a nan. The Peshwari is the best I have eaten.
