Verdo Restaurant: A Memorable Birthday Celebration with good food
I recently celebrated my birthday on 22/12/2023 at Verdo Restaurant, and it was an evening filled with delightful flavours and memorable moments. The ambiance of the restaurant set the perfect tone for a special occasion, with its inviting décor and welcoming atmosphere.
The star of the evening was the mixed platter, a diverse selection of delectable treats that tantalized the taste buds. The variety offered on the platter was impressive, showcasing a medley of flavours and textures that truly stood out. Each item was thoughtfully prepared and presented, and the hummus, in particular, was a standout—creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor.
While the service exhibited moments of slight delays, the overall attentiveness and dedication of the staff were commendable. Their warm hospitality and willingness to accommodate our requests contributed to a pleasant dining experience. The parade of dishes served to our table was well-timed, allowing us to savor each course and engage in the celebration.
What truly made the evening special was the joy of sharing this experience with my family. Verdo Restaurant provided a welcoming environment where we could relax, enjoy fantastic food, and create cherished memories together. The decision to opt for a mixed platter for myself while allowing everyone else to choose their individual dishes turned out to be a fantastic choice, as it allowed us to sample a wide array of the restaurant's offerings.
Reflecting on the evening, I can confidently say that Verdo Restaurant exceeded expectations. Despite minor delays in service, the quality of food and the overall dining experience more than compensated. I am eager to return and explore more of their menu, as the flavors and hospitality have left a lasting impression. Verdo Restaurant is a gem for those seeking an amalgamation of great food, comfortable ambiance, and shared moments...
Read moreI've been a regular customer of Verdo since it opened in 2015 and have easily eaten here over 25 times and recommended more than 30 people to it as it is one of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh.
Just so you know, This is not your typical kebab house or so called Turkish food that serves low quality tasteless meat with tasteless, bland and soggy pitta bread with a little bit of salad and covered in sauce.
I've tried many Turkish restaurants and places that do Kebabs in Edinburgh (Ada, Kezban, Rodi, Pera, Samsun's, Javits etc) and can say without a shadow of a doubt that Verdo is the undisputed best for their quality and quantity of food. They have even won an award for the best kebab in Scotland and once you try it, you will easily understand why.
My personal favourite for my starter are the chicken wings (kanat). They are well seasoned, full of flavour, have a lovely BBQ charcoal taste and i could easily eat 20 of them!.
My favourite main course is the Kuzu shish (lamb shish kebab) and the mixed grill. Tender ,lovely flavours, beautifully cooked.
Together with amazing salad and bread, Verdo is the best and if you haven't tried it, it's an absolutely MUST for your next dining experience. .
The only thing i would say they could improve on is that some of their staff could be friendlier and perhaps, their drinks are slighlty on the pricier side but their food is 10/10!!
Their lunch menu is good value for money too so hurry up...

We went in just after 5.30pm on a Friday night. Restaurant was 40% full. Was quickly shown to the table. The server took our order was cold, but the food came very quickly. The kebab and lamb ribs we ordered were wonderful. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed them.
Towards the end, I went to the toilet. Outside the toilet, I was asked rudely if I have finished. At the same time, without me knowing, they also asked my wife at the table and attempted to clear the dishes at the same time. While the server was doing that, she asked "bill yeah?" and turned away. My wife didn't have time to answer. On my return to the table, the bill was already on the table. We haven't even finished our drinks, she brought the card machine twice to urge us to pay. It wasn't even 90mins since we entered the door, and we weren't told that we needed to vacate by certain time. We were annoyed, so finished our drinks quickly, paid and then leave.
We understand Friday nights are busy. We didn't even take our time unnecessarily. That was very unprofessional and have ruined our evening. It's a shame cos the food was very delicious. But it is not the only good Turkish restaurant in town. There are other choices. We...
