Zara’s Coffee House – A Safe Haven in the Heart of Edinburgh
Sometimes, it’s not just the food or drinks that make a place memorable—it’s the space it holds for you in a moment you need it most. That was our experience at Zara’s Coffee House in Edinburgh.
Our bill was a modest £9.55, but what we received was far more valuable. After a long morning of walking and a few heated conversations, we decided to stop in for a break. The manager welcomed us with warmth and kindness, offering us one of the best tables in their cozy little café.
Over the next two hours, we sipped on herbal tea, a macchiato, and English breakfast tea. As emotions ran high and eventually mellowed, we talked, argued, and found resolution—all without a single judgmental glance from the staff or fellow patrons. We must’ve been loud, but no one ever made us feel unwelcome. In fact, it felt like we were silently given the space and grace to work through it.
By the time we left, we had reached a sense of closure and calm that we truly needed. And while we celebrated that later, we know we couldn’t have gotten there without the open-hearted hospitality of the team at Zara’s.
Zaza, you rock. Next time, we’re staying for a full meal—and we’re bringing...
Read moreStaff was ok, but the boss was rude. I unknowingly ordered the wrong way for my eggs, I asked for half cooked, but the correct description was over easy. So I asked can you cook them again, the boss (the chef) reminded me you should have asked for over easy. Innocent mistake to be honest. I did say sorry for misunderstanding. He still charged me extra for that. The food was ok, I ordered the special breakfast. My wife had an important meeting online, so we were there for over an hour. We got there around 9-10am after arriving straight from the airport, so we had a bit of luggage, also had my 3 year old sleeping in the buggy. It was still pretty quiet for a Thursday morning. I think the boss was agitated that we were there for that long. As I went to pay, the boss said, he didn't like my attitude and asked me not to come back ever again! I was shocked. Im not the confrontational type. I dont believe I was ever rude to them. Anyways that was our first experience of Edinburgh after arriving from London, but I didn't want that to ruin the rest of my experience of Scotland. I hope the boss can just chill out a little, its a lovely spot you have, a really nice view of Edinburgh castle. There are ways to talking to...
Read moreGuy who was in charge told us we cant bring food in as soon as we got near our table for four, we havent even put our bags down. We said we're not eating the donuts in our box and he looked at us with disdain. The table on our left was for two and no one was seated. So we placed our donut box on top and a group of four came in and sat on the table next to the table for two on it's left. Those costumers placed their bags and jackets on the chairs of that table for two and you know what? The guy in charge came to ask us "are those your bags? You have to remove them coz I have to give the table to costumers, we said no but we removed our box of donuts. He didnt ask the other table to remove their bags and jackets on that table for two. The staff arent friendly, they just want you to pop in get bad food and give them your money. Bad food, no space to move even just your legs, most of all very bad service. Will not come back to this place, will not recommend to friends who are...
