I really like the Ball Hill Diner, and have been dropping in for a bite to eat and something to drink whenever opportunity knocks over the last couple of years. It's a friendly, warm family run establishment with lovely, helpful staff.
The food tastes great and is lovingly prepared in a traditional 'home cooked' style. The breakfasts, snacks and meals on offer are British, Irish and American (the decor has a slight American theme, though not over the top or corny), catering for my own vegetarian diet in addition to the main meat options. My personal favourites are the all day breakfast or the omlettes (the later includes chips and salad).
The prices are extremely reasonable, and the portions generous. The drinks range from tea and coffee, to fuit juices to American milk shakes to fizzy pop.
All in all, Ball Hill Diner is a great, no nonsense eaterie in which the food is lovingly prepared and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the clientele are a mixed bunch of locals, students and visitors....
Read moreAfter using the ball hill Diner for a few years now and to be fair being quite happy with their service I was quite shocked to be spoken to very rudely by the owner today I checked their Google page (which must have been set up by them because it has to be verified by the business owner) and seen that they didn't close till 5.30pm only I was told they close at 4.30pm instead so I politely suggested that they might want to review their opening hours on their Google page at which point I was spoken to by the owner in a very rude fashion as they blamed Google for the mistake not themselves but somebody had to input the business hours and it certainly wasn't Google I have rated this place as 1star out of respect for the fact I have always been happy with this place until now after being spoken to this way I am afraid that I will have no option but to take my...
Read moreI'd been out of Coventry for a while so today I took my partner for breakfast. Now, the last time I went there was several years ago. It was painted red and was quite dark inside. Wooden tables and a completely different experience. It's very clean and bright. But, they have sacrificed the memorabilia that was all over the Cafe. It lacks personality and talking points. We ordered 2 breakfasts. The toast came first. Already buttered. It was cold by the time the plates were served. Then, had to ask for cutlery because it wasn't delivered with the food. No sauces (ketchup, brown, or mayo) were offered. Food is nice. But, the service was poor. Also, wondering if it's probably changed hands. They really should put some of the old memorabilia back. The place seems a bit like a dentists...
