Cafe Italia — Restaurant in Coventry

Overall, our first experience with this establishment was quite nice. A good nice atmosphere and helpful staff. I ordered the full breakfast which was very nice. My partner ordered the Eggs Benedict - good flavours but unfortunately the dish was lost due to having a pool of hollandaise sauce. There was an exceeding amount left on the plate after finishing the fish - that's how much the dish was drowned in the sauce! Poached Eggs were also overcooked which is normally the most exciting part and star role of eggs benedict. But the flavour was there. We enjoyed what the place offered and left us fairly satisfied. However, we saw that the establishment charges 70p if customers wish to change/swap and item on their dish. We hope the establishment doesn't take offence when we say the following. Regardless of how frustrating it may be on the restaurant, it is the customers prerogative and entitlement to change an item on their dish for free. This could be to a dislike, or worse, an allergy. Charging a customer extra money just because they can't eat something for personal reasons is not fair. Let's face it, would you be happy to pay more money because of this? I wouldn't think so, it's off-putting. We hope that the establishment takes this on board for positive reflection. The experience was nice. Very racist place. I sat down ordered food, and soft drink after soft drink while waiting for my friends for lunch. Total time spent was an hour and half, waiter came to tell ive spent 6 hours there meanwhile I had only been there for an hour and half. Such racism in this modern day uk!!

Thanks for your response, quite funny but I was the only black person in that room, did you expect anybody else to side with me? You came at me telling me how I've been there for 6 hours without fact checking. Speaking about holding a table for 4 hours is quite ridiculous but of course instead of apologising and making amends, you'll still defend your position shamefully!! How do you start a conversation with, I've been there for 6 hours, maybe 5, or maybe 4, which clearly implies you just decided I didn't need to be there!! That's it! Take accountability for your mistake of assuming I had been there for 6 hours, maybe 5, when I was ordering food and drinks as I waited for my team. Like I said, I'm never stepping foot there again but I'll also let others know to be wary, just in case the manager/business owner decides they cannot sit in that restaurant and order drinks and food any longer because of their skin color!!! OK me personally did not enjoy the food there over the past few years i have been in this restaurant about 5 times so i am not a regular, on every occation i have had food, such as a breakfast or lunch, food tastes very oily/greasy cheapish quality sausage tasted quite nasty really , beans where dry no juice at all, the half of tomato was well inedible quite how you mess up half a tomato is beyond me, bacon was ok, egg very oily tasting, and the mountain of mushrooms was kinda old been pre cooked and re cooked in oil not nice.

Pricing for a small breakfast with a latte was over £7, as of February 2019, so agian a bit pricy.

Service is waiter/waitress at your table reasonble quick to get whatever you order it is a popular place can get very busy at lunch time.

But like i said me personally i dont like the taste of there food so wont be going back ever, also a big of putting sight for me is when the cook and waiters or waitresses are out the front of the restaurant sitting in what is suppose to be customer tables, SMOKING, that really is very unprofessional and seems every member of staff smokes, if you have to or choose to smoke then fine but do it away from...
