I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chai Khana, and I must say, it was an experience that truly transported me back home with every bite. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The decor had a charming, authentic touch that set the perfect stage for a proper desi breakfast. Now, let’s talk about the food! I ordered their breakfast special, and it did not disappoint. My partner had a full English breakfast with eggs, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, turkey rashers, beans, and toast, and he said it was all cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. I ordered the Desi breakfast, which included a spiced omelette, flavorful Lahori chana, and flakey, freshly made paratha. The rich, sweet halva was the perfect way to finish, and it paired beautifully with the highlight of the meal—the tea. Oh, the tea! The karak chai was brewed to perfection, with that beautiful aroma and taste that instantly brought back memories of cozy mornings back home. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, as I encountered rude service, mediocre food, and a dull atmosphere.

To begin with, the man who served me seemed disinterested and displayed a lack of basic etiquette. His demeanor was off-putting, and it contributed to a poor customer service experience. It's disheartening when the staff fails to make you feel welcome or valued as a customer.

Moving on to the food, I chose the full English breakfast option, which turned out to be a letdown. The beans, instead of having the usual comforting taste, resembled chick peas with an odd sprinkling of coriander. This unconventional twist did not complement the dish well, leaving a distasteful impression. Furthermore, the eggs were severely overcooked, lacking the desired fluffy texture that makes a good breakfast.

Moreover, the overall atmosphere was dull and uninviting. I expected a vibrant environment that would help jumpstart my day, but instead, I felt a sense of wanting to leave as soon as possible. This lack of ambiance made the experience even more disappointing.

Considering the combination of rude service, average food quality, and a dull atmosphere, I could not wait to get out of there. As a paying customer, I expect a certain level of respect, friendly service, and well-prepared...

I saw the reviews from Ashoke and Kunal which gave weirdly bias 1* reviews and I am a little confused why they rated it so low. I happened to be there that day and my view on what happened is very different. I saw the exchange between the owner (who is very courteous and polite) politely ask them to not throw their rubbish on the floor. When they responded in an aggressive way he replied in a polite manner. It’s a shame they did that as I’ve always had a great time there. The food is very well priced and the food is amazing. I recommend the Philly cheesesteak ( new item on the menu) it’s very nice. The freshly squeezed orange juice is a personal favourite drink of mine too.
