I'm sorry I didn't take any photos, I meant to and I forgot! 🙄 this was a lovely, relaxed and friendly atmosphere I would liken it to sitting in a large living room with a bar at the end! the staff were friendly and welcoming, I visited with my partner, on Thursday 28th of September. We had an evening meal, I booked the table for 6pm, we both had the tempura prawn starter, which was presented very nicely with drizzled sauce over the plate, we had five large prawns. For our mains we both had the Chicken Supreme, with a lovely mustard mash, and green beans and carrots the Chicken was cooked properly, and not dry! the sauce was a creamy stilton sauce, which was lovely, but you don't get much on the plate, so I asked for and paid £1.50 for. We both felt our meals were worth what we paid, as the quality was good, the only slightly negative thing I have to say is we would have liked a bit more vege on the side. We would both definitely go back, they also have live music nights it's usually rock/indie music, which interests both myself...

Gluten free heaven, the first question we asked when we arrived was “is your gluten free food cooked separately from the rest of the food?” to which the member of staff smiled and said that there is no gluten in the kitchen, all ingredients are gluten free, it’s a gluten free kitchen she also added that the members of staff are not allowed to take their own food from home through the kitchen, well as you can imagine we were over the moon 😊 well we sat down for our meal with the family (celebrating our dad, grandpa and great grandad’s 90th birthday) so with two kids (who were REALY happy with a make your own Sunday and a happy 90 year old with his fish and chips to the other four adults our meals were outstanding, the service was friendly, helpful, honest and proactive…. I even said that in my opinion they just trumped Pizza Express, Zizzi, Pizza Hut, Franky & Benny’s on everything….. you are our number one place to go for a worry-free meal thank you to all who were on shift for our Saturday 20th Oct 2018 -...

"No Yorkshire puddings" Having been to the golden cross before, and thoroughly enjoying the drinks we had, we were excited to try a Sunday roast. Seeing the menu we decided on the lamb, however when we ordered we were told there was no lamb, not a massive problem but as a Sunday lunch option, and being booked at an early time, we were a bit disappointed. When our meals came, we noticed that there were no Yorkshire puddings as per the menu. Upon questioning this, we were told that their oven was small and they could only make a few, but they put some extra veg on our plates. This was very disappointing as it is one thing for us, makes the Sunday dinner so special. This was doubly disappointing as you could literally see a couple a few tables away, enjoying a Yorkshire pudding as this conversation was happening. We thought we could at least be told up on ordering that this...

Found this place on Google maps, was looking for somewhere local in the city that did a Sunday roast, and I'm so pleased we found this restaurant. We had our 2 small dogs with us. The website didn't say pet friendly but we asked out of curiosity and thank goodness they were. We sat in the garden area, which the dogs loved. The bartender was more than forthcoming and provided a bowl of water for them. They even had a little run playing ball and met some pet friendly people. Food was a tad expensive but worth it because its gluten free/dairy free, everything is clearly labelled on there menu. You get a very good portion and it's made fresh, we could taste the herbs, which was divine. Atmosphere was lovely. They even do live entertainment here, which we intend to visit in the near future. Service was great and has disabled access. Thank you for making our experience a happy one.

First 🌟 will located a stones throw away from the cathedrals bombed during WW2 that were restored, so after site seeing great place to stop for a drink. The oldest pub in town. Second ✨ good selection of beer The place seemed cozy enough even tho they've chose to modernize the place by painting everything white. Very clean. Third 🌟 the bar maid was pleasant and funny. Service was a bit slow. It had 2 seats at the bar and plenty about the place including upstairs for functions. Lots of a 🌟 for the tables took a while to clean, cleaned one table and not the others lol. Wait time for food was long. So we didn't eat. Loss of the fifth 🌟 for over all. Not really what I was expecting for the oldest pub in town had one drink, still worth the visit just the same. There's a poki machine not a fan.

We visited for lunch and had a fantastic experience, the staff were so friendly and kind. Made me and the kids feel really welcome. The food was out of this world, best food we have had in a long time, you couldn't tell it was gluten free despite it being 100% gluten free menu and catering for other allergies too. My children are coeliac and being able to choose anything on the menu for the first time was amazing. The food had so much flavour and was so fresh. Only slight improvement from my point of view was that I am not keen on chunky chips so having the option of normal or chunky chips would be great but that really is the most minor thing and only preference. Would absolutely recommend and return.
