I was excited to try the food at Esquires as I had heard good things about the options for people with gluten intolerances. The breakfast menu said that there were gluten free options on request. I asked the member of staff if the vegan and the traditional breakfast could be made gluten-free, after checking he said that he that they could be. I ordered both as both of us had intolerances. When I asked about the gluten free bread I was told we would have the option of white, brown or panini. I was so excited, I have no had a panini in a coffee shop or restaurant ever!!

We paid and sat down to wait for our food. He came over a few minutes later to say that there were no mushrooms and what would we like instead. I said I would have anything gluten free and I wasn’t too fussed. Some more time passed and another waitress came to our table to advise that the sausages on both breakfasts were not gluten free. It also turned out they didn’t realise that the full English had been ordered gluten free, which could have ended badly.

After a discussion with her, we found out that the paninis weren’t either. Our breakfast options were so limited (to something on toast) that we decided to get a refund.

Although it was the person’s second day that served us, I really feel that they should have been better trained to understand intolerances. Should the chef not have checked we could have been quite Ill had we been served the panini and sausage.

The coffee and juice were really good but I will not be...

Loooove the atmosphere in here! So much better than Starbucks and Costa in coventry atmosphere-wise. Such a nice place to sit down and do drawings or work šŸ˜ Only downside is their food… I ordered the vegan breakfast twice and very disappointed on both occasions, I definitely do NOT recommend the food here at all!!! Will not be ordering food here again 🤮 But if you come here for coffee/other drinks then it’s a very good place! Wish they stayed open for longer! šŸ™šŸ¼ Also would love it if they started doing loyalty cards for drinks

Reply to the comment:

All of the vegan breakfast items were very dry/bland/boring. The mushroom was so dry and rough to bite through and had fur on it. It tasted like and had the texture of cardboard and everything was very underwhelming about the food. It felt like I was eating a plate of cheap frozen items that were not seasoned and extremely dry. I would prefer all of the items, especially the spinach leaves, to have some oil/seasoning added to them rather than being dry/bland/unpalatable. Maybe you could cook the spinach/tomato slightly and/or add olive oil and salt/pepper? And don’t overheat the items so that they lose their moisture and become so dry. Having said that, I am very impressed with the range of organic drinks you sell and would love to see more organic food items added to your menu! The smoothies are delicious and I would love an organic...

I recently ordered Esquire’s afternoon tea for two, for home delivery in Rugby. The lunch box arrived, personally delivered by the owner, Steven Prime, who is charming, and initial impressions were absolutely superb. The wonderful variety of food, was presented in a wonderful see through box with a pull out tray inside for easy access and usability for a table outdoors. The food was all extremely fresh, with an array of sandwiches, cakes and fruit, but the star of the show had to be the gigantic sultana scones with individual pots of jam and Cornish clotted cream, no less! These really were the best scones we have ever tasted! In fact, we found that the quantity of food was sufficient to comfortably feed a family of 4 ! We were all very impressed with the overall presentation and food selection, and will not hesitate to order again, and recommend to friends and family, including trying out the other items from Esquires’ home delivery menu, both for special events and for a great family treat! Thank you to Steven Prime from Esquires Coffee Coventry, from the Thomas Family ~ we’ll be placing our next...

One of the worst places I've eaten in Coventry to date. Had the full vegan breakfast from here as it tends to be a safe and easy option, right? Wow, I generally think this place hates vegans and I'm not even a vegan! My plate contained: •1 small tomato •1 small hash brown •7 spinach leaves •1 dry Quorn sausage •1 piece of bread •No beans (by my request, no substitute or discount) •2 small flat mushrooms (They ran out of avocados so added an extra) This was around Ā£9 so yeah, do the math. What got me was everything tasted the exact same! Can't think of how someone can cook a simple breakfast and manage to have the bread, sausage and spinach taste the SAME! Dry, bland, tasteless food. Was so amazed I picked up a spinach leaf as it appeared to be days old and happened to notice a dead insect under it. How hard is it to wash 7 spinach leaves? Just walked out in the end in shock. Horrible, overpriced, disgusting place!

Second time coming here, decided to write a review since it has been a great experience. The atmosphere is beautifully decorated and chilled, perfect for a lunch on your own or with friends. I’m a big coffee fan and my first time I ordered cappuccino and second a mocha. Amazing baristas! Smoothest coffee I’ve had in a while, went down great with my meal. The food is also simple but flavourful, there are plenty of indulgences but also healthy choices. I went with the eggs royale and smashed avocado with added egg. Super fresh and tasty, will definitely try other items on the menu next time. Smashed avocado meal however had a very strong scent of lemon juice though, they should put a bit less of that, other than that it was a wonderful lunch. Don’t hesitate to give this place a quick visit!

I’ve always wanted to try Eggs Benedict and this didn’t disappoint; the egg was so soft and the texture was awesome; I’ve never had an egg cooked like this before. The sauce was nice and it was presented well. Service was quick which was appreciated as I was grabbing a late breakfast on the way to a meeting! Ready in 5 mins! Nicely decorated inside; with a relaxed vibe. Friendly lady who took my order. Price is fair for the quality of food and service. I did expect it to be made with a muffin but the sourdough bread was better. Edit: added more photos of recent visits.
