Playwrights Cafe - Coventry Canal Basin — Restaurant in Coventry

Amazing place! Food is always so good and it’s in a lovely part of the city right by the canal side. I have eaten here many times, both my boyfriend and myself have intolerances and we’ve never had any issues, the staff are very knowledgeable and really friendly and the menu is clearly marked. They even update their menu to swap to items with less allergens in them if they can. For example we never used to be able to have the black pudding but they’ve since found a new supplier and it’s gluten free. I have recently attended a vegan evening (food in the photos) and it did not disappoint!!!!!! I can’t recommend this cafe enough and I always look forward to my visits here....

This place is AWESOME! The location; on the canal with all the to-ing and fro-ing that entails! You’d never know you were in the middle of the city! It’s beautiful! Then the food.. as a vegan I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE the separate and FULL vegan menu. The pancakes and full English are SUBLIME! I’ve taken carnivore friends there, and they highly rate the grub for them, too! But if all this wasn’t good enough, the service is second-to-none. They are so friendly and welcoming and cannot do enough to deliver what you need from your visit. I cannot recommend the playwrights more highly. The only draw back is they’re is busy at...

Very happy with the service from here. I ordered from Uber eats and there were huge issues with the app. After an hour, four drivers had said they would pick up and then cancelled. I called up, they had no idea what was going on with Uber and had the food ready at the time it was supposed to be. Eventually a fifth driver was able to collect, but the food would have been cold and they offered to do another lot for us free of charge.
