Have often wondered about the Royal Oak as I have driven past and today four of us gave it a try for Sunday lunch. The very attractive, if slightly tired building, is located on a very busy road and I'm guessing could be easily passed by. Anyway once inside it is an oasis. Read moreThis was our first visit, we have lived in the area for 10+ years and have never been to the Royal Oak because we always judged it based on its external appearance. We read some reviews and was still sceptical on going, we was wrong to do so, me my wife and 2 daughters had a lovely Sunday roast (choise of 4 meats and 1 vegetarian dish). I would have given it 5* if the service was a bit more efficient, saying that it did get busy after we sat down. Still don't be a fool like us and judge it on the external appearance, pay the Royal Oak a visit I'm sure you will be surprised just like us....
