Myself and friend visited for dinner. Neither of us had been to this pub for many years. We were pleasantly surprised at the current decor of the lounge/dining area. Having decided on the 2 courses for £13.95, I had tomato soup and crusty bread, my friend the mushrooms on bruschetta. Both were very tasty. Next we both had rump steak cooked medium rare. Steaks were juicy and tender with all the yummy trimmings. We'll both be back and can recommend.

I wanted to eat when I arrived around 8pm and no food available. There's a sign outside stating accommodation available: no such thing. Enjoyed a good pint and half of Guinness, and the young female bartender phoned a taxi for me. The satnav will take you on an undesirable route if walking from Anglian Way; beware of the tunnels

Really friendly atmosphere, great beer, and a lovely decor for you to enjoy anytime of day. Have a menu for some great food, and usually about £13 for a meal and a drink. Landlord is friendly along with the other staff... I will be back again..

Have often wondered about the Royal Oak as I have driven past and today four of us gave it a try for Sunday lunch. The very attractive, if slightly tired building, is located on a very busy road and I'm guessing could be easily passed by. Anyway once inside it is an oasis. The interior (especially the dining area) is absolutely delightful and much better than I had ever expected. Service was very friendly and efficient and its good to see a landlord (owner?) who is so at ease with his customers. The food was absolutely delicious and obviously freshly prepared and cooked: however the prices are on a par with the boil in a bag/ microwaved food served in many chain pubs. Our starters were delicious and the main courses were perfect (2 Pork, 1 Beef and 1 Lamb). The vegetables were beautifully cooked and the portions were generous but not ridiculous. My wife said it was the best Sunday roast dinner she had ever eaten in a pub/ restaurant! Give it a try - it is much nicer inside than you would ever imagine from the outside. Great staff, great food in a lovely dining area -...

This was our first visit, we have lived in the area for 10+ years and have never been to the Royal Oak because we always judged it based on its external appearance. We read some reviews and was still sceptical on going, we was wrong to do so, me my wife and 2 daughters had a lovely Sunday roast (choise of 4 meats and 1 vegetarian dish). I would have given it 5* if the service was a bit more efficient, saying that it did get busy after we sat down. Still don't be a fool like us and judge it on the external appearance, pay the Royal Oak a visit I'm sure you will be surprised just like us....

Popped in for a drink maybe a meal 4 /5 customers in lounge watchibg a football.match blaring out on tv. So went to sit quietly in small snug so.we could chat. After about.45 minutes the landlord came in turned the tv on to horse racing. Again tv loud No one but us there. Never asked if we minded We drank up.quickly i stead of having another drink or meal and left. Why 2 tv's required in a pub? Also this is the ONLY pub for a large community. But it never opens before 3pm on a week day.and 12...
