I have ordered for delivery from Yaki sushi twice now and had one meal there in person.
The first time i ordered was in september 2016 Im a big fan of Japanese food so was excited to order and a bit apprehensive having never had it delivered before. I was a bit apprehensive about it getting here on time from looking at other reviews on just eat but it came in about 30 minutes and the driver came up to deliver it. (Really friendly guy) I had yakitori chicken which was lovely and hot if not a tiny bit too salty and the laksa rice noodles in soup. The noodles came cooked in a separate tub to the soup itself, otherwise it would have been much too heavy an not fit (they give you a LOT!) It was piping hot and delicious, had everything in it that it should. My chicken came in medium slices and not a whole breast as I expected. The gyoza was delicate and lovely.
My second order was a few months later and I had delivery again, this time of the Katsu Curry Benton box which does actualy come in a cute takeaway clear plastic bento type box. The meal comes with breaded chicken with curry sauce, sticky rice, deep fried vegetables (amazing) and if I rember correctly pickled cabbage. Again the portion size was good BUT this time the delivery was extremely slow and took an hour over its estimated delivery time so it arrived cold and had to be microwaved, luckily it didn't affect the taste but it was a ridiculously long wait but IMO worth it if you love their food and don't mind reheating and long waits. Wouldn't recommend for any time sensitive events/ a party.
Third time with them I went into the resturaunt out of curiosity. I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was inside and it was quiet yet comfortable with a few other diner's there. I had been a little worried bbout it being overly busy being so close to the rowdy bus station but no problems with that. Its décor is chic, very clean and stylish and the room is dimly lit but not too dark. I was immediately greeted by a friendly young lady who took me to my seat, explained things and provided excellent service my whole stay. (She had awesome hair too)
I ordered Katsu curry and it came in around 7 minutes of ordering. Piping hot in an adorable black and red wooden bento box, nicely presented with and allot of food inside. Its very deceptive being in little compartments looking small and neat but is incredibly filling and delicious, definitely worth popping in and worth the price.
I will definitely be visiting alot. Considering the lack of Japanese food in coventry its a nice classy place with great Japanes food. I usually have to go to Birmingham to woktastic to get a good Katsu curry. There is also the Japanese resturaunt Hana Moon, also nice but they don't do...
Read moreCan't leave a ZERO stars review so here we are. 🤷🏽♀️ What we were served was ABSOLUTELY REVOLTING... and I am not exaggerating. Went in expecting a somewhat decent meal consisting of sushi dishes and Japanese main meal(s) with a friend. I ordered a seaweed salad, one of the special rolls advertised as having salmon and eel etc, and a rice main with "grilled eel". Seaweed salad arrived first and I was a bit suspicious as it looked exactly like what I've seen at Yo! Sushi counters in Tesco extra... this was followed by the 'main' which was presented terribly - the eel portion lying on top of roughly spooned over chunks of "sticky rice". Not one to judge just by appearance, so I give it a go. The "grilled" eel had the consistency and texture resembling uncooked fish - it was just squishy mush and just....gross. By this point I'm pleading with my friend to leave, for us to just pay the bill without waiting for the special rolls (we went into the restaurant looking forward to a nice comforting meal to serve as a 'pick me up'). My friend convinces me to stay, on the off chance that somehow the rolls will save the day. Unfortunately, miracles don't happen. When the platter of the 2 special rolls we'd both selected arrived, I throw the towel in and tell my friend I'm not even bothering to try one because of how "distasteful" the appearance itself was. He convinces me to try atleast one, so I try one piece. .....I've never eaten something so disgusting, not even when having traveled to less developed countries. It made my stomach turn, and would have thrown up, hadn't I hastily just swallowed the revolting piece rather than chew through it.
Grand total of £65 for food that looked so much worse than pet food. Financially, the "dining experience" was entirely misleading and an utter scam.
P.S. service was very disappointing - served with an air of utter indifference. Had to ask for water 3 times. I deeply regret not taking any photos - the experience was so awful that my logic had gone out the window. I'm one to take photos of things/moments of pleasure... so it didn't occur to me then.
I'm leaving this review so others don't have to go through such an...

I have been studying in Coventry for 3 years and i always felt great at yakii. I am a long-time customer of Yakii Sushi and I usually order the same things each time. The food was excellent and it didn't take long for food to arrive. At first, I started eating in the restaurant and the service was always top notch. Recently, I've been having my meals delivered and the quality of the service has varied quite a bit. I've ordered food via Just Eat, their own website and Deliveroo and each experience has been average to poor. Delivery times are never met and with my latest delivery the Deliveroo rider was waiting half an hour before it was ready and I only ordered three items. I've noticed that the quality of the deliveries has dropped over the years and I have had the wrong foods sent to me. This has also happened to me when I ordered a take-away in the restaurant itself. Even when ordering well in advance with hours notice they can still be half an hour late. The value of the food is great and the portions are generous, but it does make me more reluctant to reorder, especially when they keep changing the prices and platforms they use for take-away. I hope this improves in the future because I don't seem to be the only one it has affected,...
