Matlock Bath Fish Bar — Restaurant in Derbyshire Dales

We went down Matlock Bath this afternoon and decided to try somewhere NEW! So as wed always admired the floor in the shop and it looked nice and presentable we thought wed try here. How I wish wed have stuck to the Riverside Chippy over the road! The Greek guy behind the counter was great and really chatty, there was no one else in the shop (should have been a give away) I personally commented on a really small sorry looking peice of fish and asked if that was a small one - He said hed just got some fresh ones out and would give us one of those. This is where things got - ughh - ... the fish was very oily and I thought it was myself at first - but the fish tasted Metalicay and smelt a little off ... as the Girlfriend ate hers, she found the same. We ate the chips which were a little underdone and the peas which were fine, finished our drinks and left. If the guy behind the till hadnt had been so decent Id have asked for a refund. Hate to leave a bad review, but on this occasion I feel it was warrented.

Have you been drinking ?? Neither of us "Polished our plate pal" we sat in and were served on polostyrene trays, we didnt have any napkins and the fish was terrible which we both had picked at and left 90% of it.

Then to call me a racist ?? You have some serious problems, although reading some of your other reviews, this doesnt seem to be something out of the ordinary for you.

Im not entirely sure what you mean by "went out your way to see what the crack was" - but it appears customer service skills have escaped you.

Myself, my friend and our children stopped off here for some dinner after a day at Gulliver's kingdom. One of the cheaper fish and chip shops along the stretch but that doesn't reflect on food or service. My girls were taking ages to decide what they wanted to eat, they stood there waiting very patiently whilst they made their minds up. They eventually decided on chip rolls. An order of the mini fish special, a fishcake, 3 rolls, regular chips came to £10 which I didn't think was too bad.

I asked for peas and curry with my fish special and there were no issues in doing that. The chips were good, not overly greasy like some chippies. Decent amount of batter on the fish and a decent size for a mini fish deal.

All in all, I would go here again for fish and chips during a day out at...

Went in to day had chips and fishcake and a coffee the chips ware dry. And the coffee cup was only three quarter full I've heard of cutbacks but this is crazy won't be going here again but I do like the pictures of fish on the floor but try to remember people don't pay for dry chips and short measure drinks UPDATE Thanks for your reply it just shows what sort of business you are A very rude little owner who gives short measure's in every way avoid avoid this fish bar at all cost there's are better one's all down the road don't give your money to this rude...
