Another visit. We booked for their lunchtime service on the chefs bench, which are prime seats in most top restaurants at a premium. You are immersed in the full experience of the whole process, preparation, and presentation of each dish. It's a whole different dining experience other than sitting in a cosy corner away from the action of the kitchen. Thursdays, they serve a 5 course tasting menu. Fridays & Saturdays you can opt for an 8 course. Which we did, obviously. This is predominantly fish, that's supplied by their very own fishmonger.
It started off with some of the best snacks we have ever had the pleasure of eating. The liver - onion was even served by a Zebra. Then comes a procession of the most devine dishes. A tuna tartare with jalapeño and butter milk was prepared by Max,the youngest of the chef's team. Next up is a beautiful piece of cod served with bread. Followed by Parrot fish with Rhubarb and a delicious Thai Green sauce. A second tuna dish, made to resemble a moussaka. Oh my word, this was lip smacking gorgeous. How can you top that? With a very nice piece of trout served with a sauce of capers, gurkins & trout roe. There is a meat dish, and that's a very tasty lamb with pea & barley, plus a little box of lamb treats on the side. And last but not least, two exquisite desserts. One mango and the other banana.
We have been extremely lucky to dine at some of the top restaurants around the country and like to think we know talent when we see it. These young chefs are on the path to great careers. Headed up by Marcus with Adam, Oska, and Max, which make up a little dream team. This is Michelin star quality, creative, and innovative cooking at its finest. We'll say it again, get yourselves booked in before those guys with tyres realise what they...
Read moreI’ve eaten at some incredible restaurants, but this place is something truly special. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for more than just a meal—it was a culinary performance.
The open kitchen immediately draws you in, giving a front-row seat to the artistry happening behind the scenes. But what makes it even more unique is how the chefs don’t just cook—they engage. They explain their techniques, share the inspiration behind each dish, and turn the entire experience into something immersive and unforgettable.
The service? Absolutely flawless. The staff are warm, knowledgeable, and completely invested in making sure every detail is perfect. They don’t just bring out dishes; they tell the story behind them, making every course feel like an event in itself.
And then there’s the food… bold, innovative, and unforgettable. Ingredients are twisted, shaped, and transformed in ways that completely redefine expectations. One bite, and you realize how much thought, skill, and passion has gone into every single element.
There is nowhere else like this in Doncaster. If you’re looking for an experience that goes beyond great food—one that’s immersive, inspiring, and absolutely Michelin-worthy—this is it.
If you haven’t been yet, go. And if Michelin is listening… it’s time to...
Read moreMy wife took me to DN1 for dinner last Friday for my birthday. Wow what a treat it was. The staff front of house were excellent offering friendly advice about all courses and the optional wines to accompany them. The ability to sit and watch the amazing chefs prepare your meal right in front of you was amazing and the food they created for us was second to none. Some of the dishes really played with your mind in how the ingredients were presented to look like something you would not necessarily expect them to be in. It was superb in every way. A real credit to all involved in the venue’s development and continued growth.
This venue is a real gem for Doncaster and a great destination for visitors from further away to come and experience.
We’ve already booked a follow up visit and I’m sure if you booked in you would be just as pleased at the end...
