Just be careful when paying in this shop and always check your receipts.
We often used to go to this shop in Merry Hill to get ice cream for our daughter and usually the experience is ok.
Last weekend my wife went there and the very unhelpful staff member who had a rude tone as well initially tried to charge her £10. Since we go there often, she explained that it is not the right price but the staff insisted so my wife used the contact less service to pay £10. She was then told that the transaction did not go through. Then another member came to "help" and checked the charges. She said my wife was right on asking the price because it should £7.50 so used the same machine again for contactless payment, this time for £7.50. She said again that it hasn't gone through at which point my wife refused to use her card the 3rd time to which she said no actually it has gone through now and gave her a receipt.
Later when we came home we noted that the initial £10 had been charged as well. Today, since she was back at Merry Hill she went there and asked that the extra transaction be refunded but they refused initially. Later someone senior came from the back and said they cannot be sure whether we bought something else for the £10. I find this highly disrespectful, accusatory and irritating. When my wife stood her ground they said we cannot refund the £10 as she does not have a receipt for it and just refunded the £7.50 since she had a receipt for that transaction.
So essentially, the genius trying to sort out the issue expected my wife to have a receipt for a transaction they had told had had never gone through.
The issue is not of an extra £2.50 but of unprofessional practice. If they can say that they cannot be sure whether or not we bought something else for £10, I can say that I am not sure whether this was an honest mistake or intentional and we were just lucky to catch it. Regardless, most likely we paid an incompetence tax of 38%.
As a general rule, please everyone just look at your receipts and amount being charged when using contactless payment methods and ask for a "declined" receipt if anyone asks to pay again.

I was waiting at the till waiting to be served by two ladies , one with coloured hair and the other supposedly the supervisor . No one even acknowledged my presence . Then after about 3 mins the supervisor asked me if I was waiting to place an order and then said she would be 2 mins as she was in the middle of another . My wife then popped to the restroom . What followed was a 10 min wait where there was absolutely no acknowledgement from either of the ladies that there was a delay . I totally understand that there might be orders in queue but i atleast expect a little courtesy to say there is going to be a delay when I am just standing there with another lady in queue . My wife then returned from the restroom and asked me what happened . I told her they havenāt taken the order yet . She was so upset she said letās go . I then got upset and asked the lady whatās happening . Even then the lady reacted as if she was totally unapologetic about it and went abt making her waffles . Wherein the one with the coloured hair couldnāt even be bothered . I mean is this some sort of racial discrimination. What did we do ? All we wanted was a piece of cake . Which you could just have served my wife quickly had you known the order. I was patient . LSD is one of my favourite dessert places but this experience totally upset me . We all are human but the least we expect is to be treated nicely . People like these leave such a bitter after taste that it really isnāt fair . I couldnāt even get a piece of cake for my wife . The two girls serving were so incredibly rude, I have never experienced service like this here before and will definitely not be returning now. Would rather travel out the find a Heavenlys. You are going to lose a lot of customers if you donāt sort this!! The younger girl who served us was helpful at first but when we asked a few questions to help us decide what to order she rolled her eyes and became clearly bored of us, laughing with the other girl and ignoring us. By the time my daughter had made up her mind, the girl who was serving us was too busy flirting and chatting with their delivery driver. We still decided to order and it took around 15minutes for two milkshakes and an ice cream waffle cone. The other girl in black bought it over to us and was extremely rude when we told her how long we waited asking what we wanted her to do about it and that they were busy. There was only one other family waiting alongside us. Maybe if you spent less time gossiping and giggling to your driver, we wouldn't have had to wait so long.
