Hate leaving negative reviews but was really disappointed today. The chef is amazing and his presentation and food is lovely, but the server (who was also lovely) needs to take more care when putting through food orders. Sorry! Ordered a soy hot chocolate and 'just avocado on toast', the soy part maybe should have flagged that I don't do dairy, (also £9.95 for avo on one slice of toast.. when anything else on toast is advertised as £7.95?), but it would have been polite to make sure my food order reflected dairy free rather than ask if I wanted to add bacon... then charge me for it even though I said no thank you? First order came out with poached eggs on top (looked amazing but not what I ordered), politely said no thank you (wasn't the chefs fault), second order came as avo on toast but there was feta(?) mixed in with the avocado which I didn't realise until I'd started eating. Luckily my dairy intolerance won't kill me, I'll just be really ill... but that could have been a bigger mistake for another customer! More care needs to be taken with double checking dietary requirements please, especially if your price point is that...
Read moreIt's been a while since we have visited here, but as the football was on at East End Park every pub in the High Street was choked with Hearts fans and probably because there is no alcohol served here we managed to walk in and get a table without a problem. There was no menu on the table and no QR code, so we looked at the menu above the tills. You order and pay at the tills. You then wait for your drinks and you take them to your table. Your food then gets served to your table when ready. Our hamburger and chicken gougon burger tasted very nice, good quality meat cooked perfectly, a bit sloppy but nice. One small niggle though the paper it was served on did start to break up and stick to the bun, maybe change to a better grease proof paper to prevent this happening. The chips were nice a lot better quality than the usual cheaper frozen chips that some establishments serve. Our medium lattes were more like a large, which wasn't a bad thing as the price was £3.50. These tasted great and were hot. The servers behind the till were polite, prompt, and well presented. The toilets...

Simply one of the worst meals I've ever paid for, which took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. It's some sort of franchise and it's expensive, but if you're expecting quality food to match the price you will feel utterly cheated (like us). Noticeably cheap ingredients, poorly combined and in no way justifying the price tag. The hot dogs stood out against strong competition as the worst part, being particularly bad burger-van quality. But.... The place was rammed full. They clearly appeal to the morbidly obese and the chavs who packed every seat in the place. The people-watching was a delicious blend of disbelief and astonishment as we watched ever heavier families pack away the food, and if nothing else was a real eye opener to what passes for a good meal to many in Dunfermline.
As we headed home we cursed the curiosity that took us there rather then, say, Monterey Jacks nearby. It might actually have been cheaper to eat there and the food...
