Review for the downstairs dining and bar & lounge area: The bar food is almost always brilliant, and although a little on the pricier side in comparison to other places in Louth - you usually get what you are paying for. The Sunday lunches available in the winter are fantastic (especially the beef), but nothing tops The Greyhound Pizzas. 14" of glorious fresh ingredients and cheese, which are also available gluten free (with a minimum of 4 hours notice on these), and you can also order them to takeaway. There are also a pizza and wine deal you can take advantage of on some nights of the week. The drinks range is excellent, with something for every taste and occasion, and as the bar is dog friendly, you can also bring your furry friend and purchase a 'Doggy Beer'. The Lounge area is great for a quiet chat with no TV's or loud music; and from this side you can also see some of the huge selection of whiskeys, gins, and vodkas on offer. In the winter this room has a roaring log fire, so it's a great place to warm up after a wander round town. Overall I would easily recommend The Greyhound Inn to anyone who wants somewhere nice and well-presented to have some food and a catch up over...
Read moreI My wife and I where treated to lunch out yesterday. We went to “The Grey Hound” in Louth Lincs. The guy that took us out and treated us to the meal has a bit of a problem with his stomach and all he wanted was a prawn cocktail. When he put the order in he was told we only do prawn sandwiches, to which he replied, I don’t want any lettuce or veg and no bread so just put the prawn in a dish that will be fine. He returned to our table and shortly afterwards a very embarrassed waitress came and told us that the chef had said that she had under charged for the prawn cocktail, and that instead of £7.00 it was now £13.00. My friend did not want to cause a scene so he agreed to pay the difference. Me I don’t mind a scene at all when I’m being ripped off, and I told the waitress so, albeit it did tell her I did not hold her in anyway responsible, and I also pointed out that the chef should have had the stones to come out to inform us of this almost 100% increase, on a dish in which he included bread and lettuce and various other things he had specifically been told was not required. All in all very dissatisfied and disappointed with the service shown by the chef. The waitress...
Read moreTried the new vegan menu. The 4 of us all had a different main and shared two starters and two desserts. The starters and mains were excellent and far better than most vegan menus that have been going a while, and. Ot what we expected (the cous cous was the star of the day by the way) we would definitely have any of them again but the desserts were awful. The chocolate tart seemed only just defrosted enough so probably not made to order and it was no better than anything from a supermarket but the pannacotta was probably, no definitely, the worse thing I've tried in a long time. It was atrocious. If you're vegan, give the new menu a try. We would all have any of the mains and starters again but we wouldn't bother with...
