Helal Tandoori — Restaurant in East Lindsey

This is a good Indian restaurant for food and service (the takeaway is poor for some unknown reason).

It's reliable and consistent, has been here almost 40 years. Several of the staff have also been here many years. The building is historic, the second oldest in Louth reputedly, but the restaurant is fairly dark and cramped. That's not necessarily a criticism, in many ways it's integral to the character of the place after so many years.

The prices are expensive by Louth standards. For drinks, they are utterly ludicrous and we've found ourselves going to the other two Indian restaurants in Louth, or out of town, on several occasions, due to this point alone. This is because if you have 3 or 4 people and you have 2 or 3 drinks each, it becomes prohibitive. It has long been known locally that it's on DRINKS that this place makes big money. The alternative, of course, is to get your drinks in beforehand and avoid the vindaloo, as many do in any case!

Banquet night (Wednesday) makes the food considerably better value and is now the only night we'll go on. You'll still be paying £4.75 for a pint of Coke though. That's equivalent to £16.72 for 2 litres, an interesting comparison given that it tastes very much like it's been poured from a bottle! 😳

Where do I start we arrived at the Indian to meet friends as this is a sister to two very good Indian restaurants we was looking forward to the food our drinks order was taken 1/2 hour after we arrived and then the came back and asked us if we wanted popadoms and pickle tray which surprisingly was bought out within 10 mins after that they kept coming back asking us if we wanted more drinks 45 mins after they came back and took our food order after 1 hour I asked if the food was coming and the waiter was so rude to us 1 hour later our food appeared which may I add had to go back as was cold this was probably blasted in a microwave there was 6 little squares of lamb but very tasteless and all the other meals where the same very disappointed the manager who was taking the money at the end of the night was informed of this by us but didn’t seem to care it certainly wasn’t worth what they charged us I don’t mind paying any amount of money if I’m getting good quality food so safe to say we will never return the thing is they pack as many people in to the restaurant and then can’t handle it awful restaurant...

Possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. The initial drinks order got taken reasonably quickly but we were left for about another hour for our food order to be taken. It then took another hour and a half (2 and a half hours after sitting down) before any food was distributed. When the food did arrive it was cold and bland, many of the curries had only 2 or 3 pieces of chicken. They then tried to charge us for another tables drinks and were most unhelpful when it came to fixing this.
