If I could give this ZERO stars, I would! This is by far the worst ‘child friendly’ establishment i’ve ever ever visited!! Due to an allergy, I could not order anything from the menu for my 11 month old daughter, therefore I took a pre packaged meal that is suitable for her. Myself & my partner ordered a main meal each along with sides & drinks. Our total bill came to over £60 in 1 sitting. Whilst ordering dessert, I politely asked at the bar if I could have a bowl of boiling water to place my daughters food container into to warm through. I was initially given a very tall slim jug of water in which the container did not fit. I asked for a normal bowl from the kitchen and was told there were no bowls available as they were all being used. The boy behind the bar, Cameron, then shrugged his shoulders at me and said they couldn’t warm it up. I scoffed as I couldn’t believe my eyes and asked him to reiterate as I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! A young girl, Brooke, then came out of the kitchen and overhead the interaction. At this point, frustrated because my baby was crying of hunger, I sharply asked again for a bowl. The girl went back into the kitchen and returned with a the smallest bowl possible, she then remarked under her breath that if I had asked politely they would have helped me. I heard exactly what she said so I exclaimed that I had asked politely the first 3 times when she wasn’t present! At this point I was so frustrated I just asked them to put some water into the bowl so I could continue my evening. The boy behind the bar then poured the water from the jug he had filled earlier into the bowl, the water was now no longer boiling, only luke warm. I proceeded to ask for fresh water and waited patiently whilst receiving dirty looks from all the bar staff. I made a formal complaint to whom I was told was the Restaurant Manager, turns out she is not infact the Manager of the establishment so this interaction was pointless! I was not even offered an apology! This establishment claims to be kid friendly, however, warming baby food for a child of under 12 months shouldn’t be a challenge!! What a shambles!! I am utterly disgusted and intend to take...
Read moreWe went on a weekday, late afternoon during term time for dinner. There were 5 of us, two adults and three children.
We sat inside on the raised section near the play area. I really like that the play area has such a large viewing window, as you're able to keep an eye on your kids easily. We did notice that the age limit was 8 and under for the play area, so kept our eldest son from entering, although there were some older children playing roughly around much smaller with no intervention from parents or staff, so took ours out until they settled down (it is nice to see older kids playing though). So just be mindful that you do need to be responsible and watch for your own kids, which as I say, is easy thanks to the huge glass window. There is also an outdoor playground that is suitable for older kids.
The service was great, the waitress was able to check about allergies for me, as my daughter has numerous allergies and intolerances that weren't listed on the allergen menu. Ordering is at the bar, and was straight forward, although it would have been easier to order food and drinks as one, instead of separately. Food arrived promptly and freshly cooked/hot. For the style of food (think Brewers Fayre etc) it was really tasty, the chicken burger had a nice crunch to it, the burger was juicy and the sausage and mash was really good. My only preference would have been branded sauces, as the off brand version used tasted very vinegar-like (both mayo and ketchup).
The only thing of importance to note food wise, was that regular butter was sent with our daughters allergen meal (dairy free, soya free, gluten free and oat free), thankfully it was in packets, and I didn't mention it at the time as she doesn't tend to eat the bread anyway, but this could have been a really allergen risk if not noticed.
After the meal, the waitress cleared the plates quickly and efficiently, checking that we'd all finished with them too. (She really was brilliant, efficient and friendly).
We will definitely...
Read moreWe came and I ordered a mixed grill and my partner ordered the new Yorker burger and then 2 kids fish finger meals, The New Yorker burger and kids meals were nice and hot and the speed of service was fast however the mixed grill… the steak was cooked how i ordered it but when I came to eat my chicken the chicken was raw, I shouted over the waiter who was cameron and explained to him that the chicken was raw, slimy and pink he was very helpful and understanding of the situation and took my food to the kitchen to let them know and also informed me that 3 other people have just sent chicken back for the same reason, when he arrived back he says (April the kitchen manager) says there’s nothing we can do as you’ve eaten your other meat to what I explained steak you can eat wether it’s a bit under/overcooked but chicken you cannot as you’ll get food poisoning and cameron agreed with me but the kitchen manager April says there’s nothing that can be done which is shocking to risk customers health and wellbeing and should not be in a position of responsibility so I got the attention of the bar manager( Howie) who also agreed that this should not be happening and was quick to try and help and defuse the situation and gave us some free dessert's for the kids and a round of drinks for the adults which was a nice gesture rather than the one greeted by the kitchen manager, overall 90% of the meals were fantastic but the general attitude of the kitchen manager spoiled the whole experience and wouldn’t not come out of the kitchen to explain the outrages statement that she made basically implying that you ate your steak and lamb so it doesn’t matter if you get salmonella, overall howie (the bar manager) and cameron (the waiter) are a credit to the company very helpful and understanding and don’t deserve to be picking up the pieces for where the rest of the company is...
