Feeling peckish on our way through Lowestoft, we decided to stop for a bite at Beach Cafe. Inside, the decor was wonderfully varied, with boats, old gramophones, and a myriad other bits of bric-a-brac. We seated ourselves at a table for two and waited for it to all take off.....
Based on the reviews, I thought we'd be well-looked after in this little cafe. I don't know....maybe we caught it at a bad time, but it really didn't live up to the billing the previous reviews provided.
The staff were lovely, and the service reasonable but, honestly, the food was a bit ordinary. I had a cheese and ham omelette and wifey a jacket spud with tuna mayo. The potato was starchy and overdone. The omelette gets credit for not being cooked to death, but.....well, you can look at the photos and judge for yourself.....I mean, perhaps a bit of a salad...

Quality ingredients to include free-range eggs, thick-sliced smoked bacon, local sausages, mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoes, hash browns and toast ⊠and a cup of tea or coffee - all for ÂŁ6.95. A lovely, friendly and attentive gentleman cooked and served our food and then came back to check that all was OK. It certainly was! We will most definitely be returning...
