EDIT in addition to this, since writing my review I must warn those eating here as after I felt incredibly nauseous as a result of the food!!!!

If you are considering going here I would strongly advise you not to- the prices do not match the quality of the food. It is with regret that I'm writing this as this was a childhood favourite of mine. Unfortunately, the quality of the chips is poor- bland and only improved by rather excessive amounts of salt & vinegar. The only redeeming feature was the fish which of course was fresh, but the chips were a poor accompaniment. I found my battered sausage distinctly lacking in batter, tucking into cheap sausage meat which was dry and underwhelming. I have definitely eaten better fish and chips from places that do not have the luxury of being so close to the sea and I will not be...

After coming here previously and the food being fantastic we thought we'd pop back for lunch. Three of us had haddock / chips and one plaice /chips . The fish was cooked to order and was lovely the chips on the other hand another story ! They obviously had Been cooked and been sitting around, they were lukewarm at best and overcooked. Mine were mostly scrappy bits so disappointing. Also last time we sat in and it was table service admittedly this was a while back but we had order round the back and then walk back to the front to sit down, I know not a problem but it was such a shame not to have table service as before. Appalling. Visited for my wife's birthday with our little girl. Requested the largest bit of fish that they do with large chips only to be told that only one size of each was available. Both my wife and I were served small pieces of fish which I suspect was because the staff wanted us and our daughter to vacate asap so that my daughter didn't disturb the older clientele who were encamped for the duration. It did not escape our notice that the older clientele, who seemed on friendly terms with the staff, were served pieces of fish that were as large as their plates. All in all, dreadful.
