PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Eastbourne

We always have a great meal at Pizza Express, the food always comes out correct, very tasty, hot and freshly made. It was the same again this time. All the staff we encountered on this visit were brilliant. On arrival (we were a tiny bit early) our table wasn’t quite ready, but the gent who did the meet and greet at the front desk, (with the Pokemon tattoo) guessed who we were, and told us they were prepping our table and it would be ready asap. He kept us informed in a really enthusiastic and caring manner. The lady who served us for our meal was so pleasant and friendly. When she brought the food out she remembered who had ordered what, and both members of staff were so lovely to my 8 year old son. They both seemed to love working there, and nothing was too much trouble. We had a great experience as usual! At the end, the lady brought our receipt and ensured I knew how much money I had saved with her various offers and discounts. The name on the receipt is ‘Leigh T’. If that is the name of the lady who served us, then the managers need to recognise how wonderful she is, she is a really lovely member of staff and her customer service skills are always fantastic. I am hard to please when dining out for food as it can be very expensive, and disappointing when the food comes out wrong, or cold, or if the service is bad, but I can definitely praise the staff for the service and the chefs for the great food! I'm really disappointed!! Me and my family went in for the pizza o'clock deal and the woman serving us was so miserable and so rude! And then at the end one of our party wanted another pizza while the rest of us were done and some had a few slices left. We asked if we could take the leftover slices home as the terms and conditions clearly stated we could with the deal and she was so rude and said we could have one slice of it!!!!! Which is RIDICULOUS and we asked so what your going to throw the left in the bin and she said yes. We asked for a manager and she agreed we were right, and the server was making up rules on the spot. She then Slammed her hand down on the counter behind the manager shouting were liars after repeating what she had said to the manager and did this several times. Along with huddling with other servers and was clearly and loudly being rude about my family! The manger was great and so so helpful but this server was awful. Her behaviour was not only concerning but distressed the small child we were with! Then when the bill came she started asking if we were spliting the service charge and how much she was going to be receiving, basically really pressuring for us to leave a tip. I found that extremely disrespectful after the experience...

We've eaten in many Pizza Express before but it was our first time in Eastbourne. Lovely atmosphere & adult pizza's. However, we were let down by the children's pizzas being delivered to the wrong table, to be sat there a while, for then the pizza's to be redelivered to ours..with not a word said. When questioned, it was expressed that "they hadn't been touched & we could have fresh ones if we wanted?" Astonished, we asked for fresh ones. Mistakes happen but please don't try to serve food that has already been set down in front of other costumers. The situation felt awkward enough as it was. We were unsure who the manager was, as we had 4 employees come to our table during our time at Pizza Express. However, we had an apology from one employee & the children's pizzas were replaced, so the issue was resolved.

As a side note, lots of food handling was noted e.g. the addition of fresh herbs, touching of food before it's served etc but some employees nail lengths are in need of a review.

Understandably, it's a busy time of the year & the mistake was correctly swiftly. Ultimately, it wouldn't put us off visiting PE again, as our children like it but we'll be more vigilant with...
