Really loved this place. Went with a party of 11 and they fit us all in. Asked for gluten free options for myself and they didn't have anything due to just opening, so I had a dark hot chocolate instead to fill me up. It was delicious but it only comes in a small cup so ordered another. (On my second visit they provided it in a latte cup and it felt a lot more substantial. I loved the finish on it) My family had mostly breakfast sandwiches like sausage and bacon and black pudding but they looked great and they really didn't take long. The staff were so lovely. So down to earth. And they came to me after the second hot chocolate and said they'd just bought some gluten free bread if I wanted a sandwich, which was so considerate of them. But I was full from my two hot chocolates šŸ˜‚ but I had some toast and it was very good gf bread. The lattes were absolutely delicious. We came back for seconds after climbing the steps and I can't describe the flavour too well, but it was like espresso and liquorice, but not overpowering. They said it was their own special blend. It was well worth it. They also had some outside seating which was cramped but delightful. I hope to go back soon and see if any more gf options. Edit: went back a few months later for the same dark hot chocolate and it was even better. Love this!!

Loved our stop off at the tea room. An excellent position right at the bottom of the 199 steps. We stopped of for a drink and light bite. The cheese scone, cheese and chutney was lovely. The price seemed very very reasonable indeed. The staff are very attentive and helpful. The youngster helping with the serving was a credit to the business, very polite and helpful. A lovely atmosphere. A radio playing quietly in the background added a nice balance to the atmosphere. The food arrived in a timely manner, the drinks almost immediately, thanks to the young person.

A cunningly placed cafe at the foot of the Abbey steps, beckoning to the would-be mountaineer. The flat white was delicious. The coffee to milk ratio was perfect, not a pretend latte. Textured milk to give the velvet micro-foam with no signs of layering. Maximum taste in a small package. The cafe itself was quirky and welcoming. We loved the time capsule record decorations adorning the walls, and the staff were super friendly. But then it's Yorkshire, so everyone is :-) Highly recommended.

my wife and friends stayed here on Saturday the 29th Feb, this is the easiest review Ill have to fill out "wow" the place is like a tardis, Cant believe the space we had. The rooms where fantastic and very clean with the most comfortable bed ever, t.v and even DVD built in.

We felt so welcome by Jo and Mark the owners, breakfast was lovely and prepared for us fresh, the owners took the time out to show some interest in all four of us and I can see massive things on the horizon for this fantastically situated accommodation.

Ill be back "sorry ARNIE" couldnt resist but all jokes aside we will be, I actually wanted to keep this place to myself but to good to not share cheers Jo & Mark from Anthony Lappin...

We called at this lovely little coffee shop with our grandchildren at lunchtime. We were lucky as 15 minutes later it was almost full. The proprietors are lovely people and provided us with exactly what the children wanted. I tried a bowl of the home made soup, one of the best I've tasted, and quite filling. All in all a pleasant experience, right on the main tourist trail, yet tucked away at the bottom of the Abbey steps. If they're not too busy, which they weren't when we first when in, then Dan will happily talk music with you, sparked off by the eclectic display of...
