TL:DR version - OK food for an OK price, nothing remarkable enough to make me want to come back.

Moroccan cuisine hasn't really been on my radar but with the opportunity to have dinner in Windsor we turned to Google and thought this looked interesting enough to give it a try. We arrived early (according to me it was early, Izy disputed this but I'm always right as was the case here) At around 7pm and we were the only people in the restaurant.

The interior is quite homely, we has passed a new Moroccan restaurant on our walk down Peascod Street to get here which looked a lot more modern. Upon arrival here I felt the setting seemed much more authentic for a Moroccan restaurant (note: actual number of restaurants I've visited in Morocco = 0). There is nothing flash about it, but the carved wooden door and friezes along the walls coupled with the traditional Moroccan music playing in the background created a nice ambiance.

The menu choices were quite varied, with a decent selection for vegetarians as well. I started with Mergas, billed as Moroccan spicy sausage with salad and pitta bread. The sausage was good although I thought it was a bit over priced at £6.95, Izy chose the Al Fassia salad which tasted good and seemed better value to me.

For main I chose Couscous Al Fassia, this was my biggest let down of the meal. The lamb was good but the chicken was plain and worse still rather dry. I'm never normally one to leave food on my plate but the dry chicken defeated me. As a signature dish I was really hoping for more. I thought Izy's chicken maghdour was better but likewise she wasn't blown away.

Our meal with a bottle of light and delicate rose wine (read that as bland and lacking flavour) totalled £60. We left not disappointed, just indifferent towards the idea of going back. It was about 9pm when we left (no longer early ;) and the restaurant was...

The food here was so lovely, the service was warm, personable and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday evening meal at Al Fassia and I especially enjoyed the tagine and Moroccan coffee!

The restaurant is in a great location with parking and public transport nearby, there's a lovely space downstairs and upstairs, it's well spaced out but still feels intimate and charming. There are toilets upstairs, they're spacious and clean!

But the star of the show as previously mentioned is the food, so fresh! I wish I had taken a picture of the tagine before I started eating it, but take a look at photos left by other reviewers. It's delivered to your table in the tagine, still sizzling hot. The food was all cooked within earshot and care was taken to ensure it was all piping hot.

The service was extremely friendly and it was abundantly clear that there was a real passion for the food being served to us. I will absolutely be looking for any excuse to come back. The only thing I'd note which isn't their fault... we arrived at around 6pm on a Sunday and beyond one other table, nobody else was there during our meal. This is a crying shame because the food, service and prices are absolutely deserving of a full house every day of the week. If you're debating going here, please do come and try it. Merci...

What an absolute gem of a find! From the moment we walked in the staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious, I shared the Al Fassia Special for two. Excellent! Meze selection served with breads and then a selection of hot dishes including the lamb with prunes and apricots and chicken with olives and lemon. Plenty for two and every dish uniquely flavored throughout. I finished with a filo pancake with honey nuts and ice cream- just right, my friend had a creme brulee, again she stated it was lovely. The other member of our party started with the Traditional Bastilla, followed by the salmon. Again delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. Mint tea, Moroccan coffee and home made pastries to finish. Fantastic! A wonderful experience from start to finish, with delicious Moroccan wine and cocktails too! Very traditional Moroccan food expertly cooked and served. A huge thank you to all of the staff, especially for arranging a cab for us back to Slough when we missed the bus! I highly recommend this lovely, family run restaurant, wonderful, friendly staff and delicious Moroccan food. I am just very sad that I am not a local, as I would defiantly be a regular customer. I...

When I visited, there was only one person hosting, and he was incredibly friendly and a pleasure to interact with. He made my dining experience enjoyable, guiding me through the menu and helping me choose the best options for my first Moroccan meal. The restaurant itself is small and a bit shabby in places, but the interior decor gives off a truly authentic Moroccan vibe, which is equally reflected in the menu. Most of the dishes I had were on the sweeter side, and the tagine stew was a bit bland for my taste. However, the lamb was perfectly cooked—falling off the bone, and despite some fatty parts, it melted in the mouth without being chewy at all. The only downside, which might also be seen as a positive, was that the host’s high energy made me feel slightly rushed. I wasn’t there for even an hour, which raised some concerns about whether the food was freshly prepared or reheated. Despite the brief visit, it was a delightful experience overall. I'd still recommend it, especially for those looking to try Moroccan cuisine for the first time. It was a great introduction to the flavours and culture.

Al Fassia is a hidden gem in Windsor a few minutes from the High Street. The Manager was the best part of the dining experience. He was friendly and knowledgeable and could offer menu suggestions for my #Gluten Free requirement. He wad also a total gentleman who made me realise Chivalry is not completely dead 😀 He held my coat up for me to put on, which no one has done for me, ever! The Moroccan wine was really nice, I didn't know Morocco produces wine! We all had a Tagine as the main course, and they were all delicious and extremely flavourful and served piping hot. The lamb was so well cooked it was falling off the bone and melting in ky mouth. The Merguez sausage was really flavourful, I'll definitely look out for those! The Filo pastry as a starter was a hit with everyone. The food is very homely, and so is the atmosphere. I'll definitely go back to try the other dishes.

The restaurant does not feature any parking. But Leonards Rd features a few car park nearby and at night it is always fairly easy to park. Al fassia restaurant is probably if not the best restaurant in Windsor.I know some know better will argue but for a family run restaurant to deliver the quality of food they are delivering it is simply a strong commitment to their cause. It is a legacy of Morrocan cuisine and Mustafa long life commitment. The praise will always go in the authenticity and the great taste. It is honestly priced although they recently bumped the prices up. If you are tired of plastic foods this is the place to visit. If you do not know what to get ask Hussain. The foods is outstanding The service is outstanding The overall restaurant deserves more success so it can stand against all newish non-sense around in Windsor.
