I’ve been a long-standing supporter of the Viceroy of Windsor, but my experience on 15th July 2025 was deeply upsetting and unacceptable. I visited to collect a takeaway with my assistance dog, Arthur — something I’ve done before. I was not dining in, simply picking up my food.
Instead of being greeted, the manager immediately shouted at me to leave, repeatedly and loudly, even after I explained that Arthur is a trained assistance dog protected by UK law. I was visibly distressed and almost fell trying to exit while walking backwards.
Moments later, my mother called the restaurant to express concern. The manager shouted and screamed at her on the phone before abruptly hanging up - entirely inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour.
When I eventually paid at the door, I was met with further disrespect. A staff member rolled his eyes and said, “we don’t care” after I once again explained Arthur’s legal status.
There were no visible signs regarding a dog policy or CCTV, and I’ve since found multiple other reviews describing similar behaviour: aggression, poor service, and dismissive attitudes.
I’ve supported this business for years, but after this experience, I no longer feel safe or welcome - especially as a disabled customer. I’ve submitted a formal complaint, and I hope changes are made. No one should be treated this way,...
Read moreI work with vulnerable adults, booked a table for 4 of them including myself. Ordered food, food was below average! Food was cold! Three different dishes ordered of the mains an they all looked the same in colour, red from food colouring! Bland, tasteless, no flavour. The portions do not reflect the price. Dessert, a mint flute! Something you could get out the fridge isle from your local supermarket….. mint cornetto but in a fancy glass! I refused for my clients to pay for the service charge ….£10.55. A random number pulled out the air I think! We asked to split the bill an pay for what each ate! The manger came over, bothered by our request! Said it was not easy to work this out and it was an inconvenience. He looked over to the waiter asking him the cost of the naan! Your the manager, you came up with the menu, prices would you not know. Eventually he managed to work out the cost, once paid. We realised the manager had taken an extra £10….(maybe for the service charge we refused to pay). I have to say the whole atmosphere, the staff who stand watching whilst you eat….. the arrogant/rude manager…. It’s sure to say I personally will not...
Read moreWe were looking for an Indian resturant so we could have a take-away, and enjoy it at home. We searched on-line and decided to order from "VICEROY OF WINDSOR". We chose this place because the reviews were very positive, so, we ordered onion bajees, chicken Corma (my husband said it was the best he ever had) lamb biryiani, (this was so delicious, and the lamb was super-tender) bombay aloo, pilau rice, peshwari nan (first time I've ever had a peshwari nan and it was so yummy) and a plain nan. The food was outstanding, it was absolutely piping hot and everything tasted so amazing, so yummy, so fresh and so delicious.
