Saturday last three of us thought we'd try the Greek Table. No real ales available for a start . Two of us ordered white wine . This arrived warm in a wine cooler . Asked for a cold bottle but apparently they were all warm and had only just been added to the fridge (8pm on a not particularly busy Saturday night ). Asked for extra ice and were given just a couple more lumps . Waitress was apologetic as was her first night and had had no training . Starters arrived and were fine . My whitebait on a bed of watercress was excellent infact. Calamari also good . Mains arrived . My lamb was supposed to come with roast potatoes but they were infact boiled . Half a bit of tomatoe skin and a couple of slices of onion sat under my incredibly fatty lamb ( and I quite like fat) . Another dish of skewered chicken was ¾ fries and the smallest Greek salad we'd ever seen . Chicken was tough and dry . Asking for ketchup to go with said fries took an age to sort out and she had half finished her meal by the time it had arrived. Other persons beef course was described as average . We ordered two more glasses of wine and a beer to finish . Two of us stepped outside to vape , leaving our coats and bags etc at the table having not yet paid the bill. Third guest used the gents. On our return to the table all our drinks had been cleared away !!! We just wanted to get out n go so paid up and left . So you can see possibly why I gave a one...
Read moreOnce again, a lovely stay. The rooms are all different so every stay so far has been unique. I had a twin room this time, very large room and I love the style. There are basic facilities which is fine for me. I had plenty of tea bags and milk. Very comfortable bed and I found the room extremely quiet. I love the atmosphere, I can't put my finger on what it is but I immediately felt at home. I didn't eat in, I was already intending to eat at a particular restaurant so I made no enquiries about food at all.
A couple of issues : stains on the carpet. Obviously old so the room was clean but perhaps some attention to them might help. Bathmats in the bathroom would be a good idea. I know they are an extra expense but I stepped out of the bath onto a sloping floor with wet feet. A bit nerve wracking!
Otherwise a lovely relaxing stay for a price which is now below the Premier Inn on most nights. It seems it's sometimes harder to book rooms so I guess other people are realising this is a good place to stay. Perhaps I should start leaving one star reviews! Only kidding, I'm glad if...
Read moreWas told the room had an issue with the ceiling in the shower area which was not a problem, but the room was cold and damp and very dirty, i,m a contractor and a bit off muck and dust doesn't normally bother me but if your paying premium rates you expect a clean room, i asked them to put the heating on, and they discovered it was not working in that area, so brought me an electric heater, which in turn kept tripping the fuses, so went to bed with no heating. what a night, the toilet macerator started pumping and grinding every 20 minutes on the dot not a wink of sleep. got up for a breakfast and the young girl apologised for not having mushrooms for the English breakfast, which wasn't an issue but then she came back and told me there were no eggs!!. I am not a person that complains, i just get on with it but this was a bad experience, just to add the bar staff and waiting staff were nice and friendly and i put it down purely to a...
