That was the worst experience I have ever had as a customer. Once we finished our meal, I decided to go and pay at the counter as we were in a hurry. I paid by card and kindly requested a receipt as the price seemed a little bit TOO HIGH. Mr. “Yes, Boss” printed a confirmation of the payment and handed it to me. When I kindly requested a receipt instead of a confirmation of payment, he said that this was my receipt. I didn’t give up and insisted on a receipt so I could check if I was not paying someone else’s bill. He turned around, clicked a few times on the counter, printed a receipt, and cut off half of it with the kitchen knife. As you can see from the attached receipt, this could have been a receipt for absolutely anything. I gave up at this point and asked my partner to get ready to leave.

Time for ICING ON THE CAKE of this story. Mr. “Yes, Boss” followed us to the exit, and before closing the doors behind him, he said, “HEY, DON’T COME HERE ANYMORE.”

Well Mr. “Yes, Boss” and Management of King’s Café, you can bet we won’t, as well as none of our friends, their friends, their families, and I hope wise customers reading...

I usually grab a baguette from Greggs in Newbury for my lunch once a week as a nice treat. However, Greggs is temporarily shut so I looked around for other options. I found two other places offering baguettes and both were close to £5 each. On the off chance, I popped into Kings Café and was pleasantly surprised. I've walked past this cute café on multiple occasions and never gone inside. It is cosy and comforting but also feels high quality. The server (potentially the owner) greeted me and advised he would be with me shortly as was just preparing coffees for some other customers. When he was done, he asked me what I would like and was very accommodating to my requests for no mayo and red onions on my ham salad baguette. My baguette was made incredibly quickly using fresh ingredients displayed in the counter and he made it all in front of me. It cost £3.90 and was one of the nicest baguettes I've had in a long time. Next time, I will definitely be trying either the chicken and bacon or smoked salmon. Can't recommend this place enough for takeaway food, may try sitting in next time! Keep up the good work and thanks for...

I went to this cafe with a female friend. The day before, my friend had visited this cafe and Marcel the maitre de had danced with her and videoed them dancing together. When we sat down we were given two late coffees which we had not asked for. We then ordered an English breakfast each. The food was OK but the coffee caused my friend to have instant diahorea. When she ran to the loo, there was no toilet paper. Before we ordered our breakfast, Marcel came over to our table, and touched me inappropriately on my back and on my arm. He was so disrespectful towards two ladies in their older years. I did not drink all of my coffee and I was glad that I did not, because afterwards, even after just two mouthfuls, I felt extremely dizzy and I could not stop giggling. I do not know if the coffee was spiked, but I suspect that it was. The food was OK and the waitress Maria is really kind and sweet. It is a shame she has to work with such an odious, rude, and disrespectful to the older lady, waiter,...

A quaint and friendly cafe. With 400 coffee chains down the road I am so pleased I walked a little further up. This coffee shop is really good value and has a really good selection of sandwiches that are made promptly to order. A full English is only 4.90 and the server is incredibly personable. This is the kind of place that people should come as often as they can in order to support local business, I know I certainly will.

Saturday late morning visit, plenty of seating. Very good disabled access ramp to all internal areas and large lavatory to manoeuvre in, with sliding door - needs a slight push to latch locked. Food was extremely prompt, and very reasonably priced. Service was also very good, knocked a knife off the table and a new cutlery set was delivered before I could even pick it up.
