I think this was my first time trying Bella Italia, so was excited to see how this chain takes on Italian food. I ordered the regular garlic bread as a side to my spaghetti carbonara main. Some garlic bread slices were very tough to bite. I asked my server, Gregory, about this and he suggested that this is normal, that the bread would be softer if I had opted for the more expensive cheese option. The spaghetti carbonara was... not good. First was the two pathetic strips of bacon that simply tasted "off". They weren't crispy - but a weird texture to bite into. Next was what I had presumed were spring onions (but were actually leeks). These were unpleasantly tough to bite into, and the flavour just wasn't working with the rest of the dish. I've ordered carbonaras at a lot of Italian restaurants and I've never had leeks in any of them, probably because it doesn't work. The spaghetti ribbons were fine but it's a shame the rest of the dish wasn't up to scratch. In terms of staff and atmosphere, I could hear a lot of shouting from the kitchen area which was a bit disruptive. When I was finished, I requested the bill from a staff member who was cleaning cutlery. They said they'd bring it, but never did. In fact, I had to wait close to 10 minutes to request the bill again from my original waiter. It's a shame, but based on my experience I can't recommend Bella Italia. There are other places to dine in Southwater Square, so it's worth checking those out instead.

The food was terrific, and the kid's food was filling. My son enjoyed it and loved his summer juice box; we had to buy another. The environment was clean. The major problem I had with this restaurant was that my husband had to carry our baby in his hand for the duration of our visit because they insisted we had to leave our baby's car sit on the floor, meaning he had to stay below our table; awful!!!!! It would have been nice if they had provided a wooden chair for us to put his car sit on, but they didn't. We couldn't enjoy our meal because of this. You have to pay for parking; it's not far from the restaurant.

I tried to give this place a few chances. Firstly it took ages for our order to be taken, then food came to us before our drinks did... I can't explain that. Both me and my asked for our breakfast without beans. They came first with the beans and we sent them back. We then found out they just scraped the beans off the plate because the residue was still on the rest of the food. We sent that back and then waited again around 15 minutes for our food again for a below average breakfast. We will not be returning or recommending this place.

The place was good. Went with a friend late evening to get something to eat. I ordered the spaghetti paying extra for the chicken - I don't believed it advertised that it also came with pork but it wasn't an issue for myself. My friend's mushroom dish was supposed to have a creamy sauce however the sauce was more watery than anything... I still rate the experience relatively high though as we got the dish changed for a pizza in no time at all. Decent place with good service

Visited when we were in the area for a conference. The area in general is very nice and modern with lots of chain restaurants to choose from. We chose Bella Italia as we liked the sound of the menu. It was very busy and had a lovely atmosphere. All staff obviously enjoying their jobs and very friendly. Fast service and good food, the prawns were especially delicious with a kick from the chilis. Will be our go to restaurant when at our next conference

Never eaten anywhere where the breakfast is still hot when you are almost finished OMGoodness, best breakfast EVER!!! Staff were really personable and friendly and, as a wheelchair user, I found it very accessible and would definitely recommend. My only feedback would be that the music was a bit loud for my taste but I'm Autistic. I didn't ask for it to be turned down but they may have been reasonable with that request as they were genuinely lovely!
