Myself with two more friends went to this restaurant last night and the level of service we received was pathetic considering these guys running business for quite some time now. We were given a table where one chair would not come out. Even though the restaurant was empty with only two more couples dining in, the staff looked reluctant to change table which they eventually did (I could not understand the fuss about it). I was not aware that this was just the beginning of a night full of awful experiences from them. After serving menu no one came to take our order for 15 minutes. There was a staff of atleast 5 people at front and no one acknowledged we sitting there, no eye contact what so ever so I stood up and went to the bar and ordered Kingfisher Beer on the tap for myself and two more drinks along with a starter to begin with. After 5 mins I had my beer which looked totally flat. When I quesstioned the bar that the beer needs changing as this is not how it should, be all of their staff came at front to suggest the beer was okay to drink and that if I wont I will still be charged for this beer even if the whole pint was untouched. And then they had this old guy(customer or delivery guy?) standing next to the bar who was in some sort of association with these guys and was having free pints whilst waiting for food, this gentleman suggested the pint is perfectly fine and that he had two of these. He even suggested to stir it with straw or put a pinch of salt.. I mean seriously you retard head! I checked the pint with the spoon and there was no gas at all. Anyway I offered pint to this same old guy who now would not have it!! LMAO. Finally I ended up having another bottle of Cobra which one of the staff left on my table without saying anything and without pouring it. I did not want to stay there at this point of time. So we waited for our starters. The food was dry, with lacking flavours and it looks as if it was just warmed up in microwave. This was a mixed grill and it lacked grilled onions and the aroma that this kind of order usually have. This level of service is ridiculous and I can never imagine this happening in the UK! These guys need to be trained for improving their customer services. I just came from my holidays in India and any small restaurants would serve you better then this Bengal Blue! Not recommended to do any future business with them. I am not coming back along with two of my friends who were utterly disappointed like myself. Bad Service, Bad Food, Bad Attitude from the staff for what? £3.95...
Read moreNo idea why some of the reviews are as low as they are here- the food is absolutely incredible! We visited for the first time yesterday evening and were really impressed with the food, this will be our new go-to for Indian cuisine. Hats off to the chefs.
However, I would say the service could definitely use some work. This restaurant does not have the attention to detail that many Indian restaurants are known and loved for. There was no warm welcome as we entered. In fact I don’t think we managed to get a smile from the staff the entire evening. In fairness the younger gentlemen working was a bit more hospitable than the older gent who just seemed angry & moody. Another example is that we put our cutlery on our starter plates once we’d finished, so they could be cleared and replaced and the waiter removed the dirty cutlery and set them back down on the table to use for our mains! This is quite unusual, and again not what you’d expect from an Indian restaurant where the attention to detail is usually far more thought-through. The chairs were quite grubby with marks on. The after-meal wipes were not warmed and were given to us cold. Just the little things that make a big difference.
All this being said, again, the food is sensational. So much flavour and fresh. We’ve been to the so-called ‘best Indian in Aylesbury’ and Bengal Blue is MILES tastier. Some of the best Indian food I’ve had in a very long time. The chicken pakora had the perfect amount of seasoning and was tender. The korma was so creamy, sweet and flavourful- something I find many other establishments aren’t able to achieve. The lemon rice was just the perfect texture and amount of lemony taste. The naan was soft and buttery. Work on the customer service and attention to detail, and I’d happily recommend this place to all of my friends & family. It would be great to see a dessert menu too! We will be back soon and I already...
Read moreI had read the previous reviews, but even though lower scoring than the majority of Indian restaurants in Aylesbury, we needed something with later opening because of our schedule, and thought we would make do. How wrong we were, we were in for a treat, the starter a vegetarian sharer for two was enough for the main meal, we had vegetable biryani, vegetable Balti, Saag Paneer, Aloo Gobi, Pilau rice, garlic naan. The presentation and flavours were a knockout. We took our own wine and being the nominated driver I had the in house Coke. Service was just right, being there when needed and not bothersome when not. Prices were a shock we had to check they charged for everything as was more than reasonable to what we pay elsewhere. Will definitely become a regular place to visit. They are in the process of repairs made difficult being a listed building, but once sitting down for food you are in...
