This was our first time at BITE after having walked past many times.

Everything was astonishingly good!!

Truly excellent food. Just struggled to finish it all. Absolutely perfectly cooked from starter to sharing plate for two.

We had the halloumi and tzatziki to start. Both worth a visit on their own. It would have cost more to buy shop bought halloumi than it costs at BITE to eat it perfectly prepared. The tzatziki is the best I had tasted anywhere in the UK or Mediterranean.

Our only worry now was that we ordered the mixed sharing grill. We were already full to busting.

So, the sharing board was £38 for two. It might feel expensive at first glance. But that’s £19 each. A burger can cost that in Newbury. This is the best £19 you can spend on eat in food in Newbury. The quality, cooking, flavours, serving is all best of the best. The chef knows his grill. He knows his spices. A maestro.

We decided this alone is going to be our new takeaway of choice. Sharing board for two. For four of us. I will never order a takeaway kebab in Newbury ever again. This is a new standard in value for money.

We had a bottle of rose. That’s the one change I would make. a different Rose. But it was still super drinkable.

What makes this an experience. Chef is a lovely man - attentive and a pleasure to talk to. And very passionate about his food.

We spent £72.00 including wine.

We just finished left overs for lunch. Four of us had wraps.

I feel guilty for not trying BITE before now.

Going to grab some friends and go again very soon.

This place is too quiet for how good it is. I urge everybody who loves Mediterranean food to give it a go. BITE truly deserves to be packed ...

If you’re craving authentic Turkish cuisine bursting with flavor and care, look no further! Our recent order from this gem of a takeaway shop left our taste buds dancing and our bellies beyond satisfied.

Let’s start with the lamb chops—oh my! Tender, juicy, and marinated to perfection with a blend of spices that hit all the right notes. Cooked flawlessly, they melted in the mouth and left us craving more. The Halloumi Burger was an absolute triumph too—grilled just right, with a crispy exterior and that signature salty-creamy halloumi goodness. A vegetarian dream!

The Kanet chicken wings deserve a standing ovation. Crispy on the outside, succulent on the inside, and seasoned with a touch of magic. No dry bites here—just pure, moist deliciousness. And the chicken shish? A masterclass in spice balance! Every skewer was packed with tender, flavorful meat that even my picky son devoured entirely (a first-ever clean plate victory!). High praise from a kid who usually leaves leftovers!

To top it all off, they surprised us with a complimentary baklava for dessert! While I’m personally a walnut-baklava enthusiast, the pistachio version was still delightfully sweet and flaky, showcasing their dedication to quality. A generous gesture that added the perfect finishing touch to our feast.

What truly stood out was the evident care in every dish—fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and cooking precision that’s hard to find.

So friendly with great service. They patiently waited for each of our group to arrive and were attentive as each walked in the door. We were only 6 but drawn from various parts of Berkshire, Surrey and Oxfordshire.

To start we ordered a selection of starters to share; Hummus, Halloumi, crispy cheese rolls and aubergine in tomato garlic sauce. All were delicious and more than enough for us.

For a main course, I ordered a mixed platter for 2 to share. It came with an emphasis on meat - lamb chops, chicken and lamb shish, chicken wings and savory meatballs. Served with flatbread and a small salad. All the meat was cooked to perfection. Very tasty and plenty for the two of us.

I had the house wine (red) which everyone commented upon and more glasses were ordered!

Laid-back and relaxed, we finished off the evening, chatting and drinking coffees and flavoured teas.

A great night with good friends, lovely food and drink. We will be back to do it all again I'm sure.
