Lovely grub and a friendly welcome. We eat regularly at the BT, normally one or two eat-in meals each week. It has become our favourite local restaurant with an interesting menu which is far more varied than the usual curry house fare. The service is quick and friendly; the restaurant is itself is kept spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly, and very happy to be flexible to suit your personal preferences -- we like to start a meal with a coffee (weird, but true) and they have the pot brewing before we get to 'our' table (and yes, we sit in the same place each time...) They always remember our normal preferences, and make suggestions if we're not sure what we fancy this time around. We can definitely recommend some of the Bude Tandoori specials and unusual dishes; chaft kuftis masala (with potato) is delicious; rezala is strips of chicken is a spicy tomato-based sauce, and kashmir is an interesting lemon and coconut dish. For a huge treat at Christmas we pre-ordered the kursi lamb, which is an entire leg of roasted lamb. It was a stand-out spectacular dish. Succulent, saturated in flavour and 'spicy' but not harsh or agressive. Simply delicious. We took home the substantial left-overs and enjoyed six more meals from that one helping! It's all a little bit different to the usual fare, although the BT will definitely serve an above-average chicken tikka masala or a vindaloo if you prefer. We have also found that the chef will cook a dish especially for you if there's something you'd like which isn't on their menu. Our only complaint is that the nature of the room means that loud groups tend to affect the ambience. So a yelling family with kids screaming can spoil an otherwise wonderful evening -- and unfortunately there do seem to be quite a few people who like to hold their conversations at full volume, and don't care much about the effect they have on other diners... But overall, this is our favourite Indian restaurant, and far better than you might expect to find in a Cornish...
Read moreThe food was fine. Ordered standard dishes I normally would and they were all done well enough, just needed a little more salt. Onion bhajis should in my opinion come with a dip, but they didn't. As a takeaway I'd certainly try them again.
I wouldn't however ever dine here again. The service however was dire. The main gentleman who seemed to be in charge was extremely rude and impatient at every encounter with everyone. He barged about the place looking like he'd assault anyone who inconvenienced him.
The girls who served couldn't identify almost any menu item ordered, had to ask us many times as to what it was we we're ordering. She was English as are we, there shouldn't have been such an issue, I can only assume she's new and doesn't know half the dishes names. They got our drinks order wrong and couldn't provide ketchup or anything else to go with the chips the kids ordered.
When the food arrived with the very hot plates the grumpy gentleman practically threw them on the table, right next to our kids and, warned us they were extremely hot then left us with no way of moving them. Despite trying to use sleeves to protect our hands they were still dangerously hot.
Also would say that as far as covid-19 precautions go they were not doing enough. Not enough distance between customers. Menus that did not seem clean and were being reused. Serving staff using the till and phone and then going to serve food without obviously sanitising their hands in-between. There were a lot of people collecting takeaways and the place seemed overly crowded and confused for a lot of the time we were dining there.
I'd really not go back unless I had no...
Read moreWe live in Devon but my partner had to work away here a few years ago. During his stay he happened across this Indian takeaway/restaurant. He loved it so much that he vowed to bring me here. So on a recent trip to Cornwall we decided it was time for the famous curry. And it's safe to say we were not disappointed.
We hadn't reserved a table but were easily accommodated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All covid guidelines were followed so it felt safe and secure. The food was truly delicious! We both ate from the specials menu. Everything arrived quickly and was very hot and yummy! The pashwari naan was amazing 👌🏼 I had to be rolled out of the restaurant as my eyes were bigger than my belly.
Overall it was worth the wait and...
