I have always enjoyed the traditional steak pasty on several occasions over the past 4 years when visiting Bude. Unfortunately the coffee now comes in a super cheap carton that is incredibly weak in its structure and quite unsafe to handle considering the heat of the liquid within. The sit in prices are ridiculous and hence one gets this feel of profit before customer. The screen at the till is not welcoming either. I shall next visit try another pasty outlet where hopefully one can feel a sense of worth as a customer.

We went there for a quick bite of lunch. it is an old fashioned local bakery, that sells traditional Cornish pasties and cream teas, we had both. Pastie was very large and well filled served with a nice dressed salad. Cream tea was very nice, really nice fresh crumbly scones and the tea was really good and refreshing. This is a local business with good food, very nice friendly staff, it is clean and tidy and the prices are reasonable, if you are in Bude give it a try.

I have always been brought up on Pengenna when we travel to cornwall as kids to st ives. Imagine my delight when I saw this one in Bude. I had to have a takeaway cream tea and 4 ginger bread men. I was not happy at all and it let down my taste buds from what I have come to expect in St Ives. The scones were dry and tasteless and the ginger bread men were not like I remember. Will give this one a miss and stick to the St Ives branch in future.

What a disappointment and rude staff member. The wife and I went in on Thursday 12th Sept. On entering we were told the internet in bude was down and it was cash only. Disappointed but still walked the half a mile and back to to the car to get cash as like to support local cornish businesses... and as the business advertised they are 'simply the best' we wanted to test the theory. On getting back we ordered a traditional steak pasties and a lamb and mint. Now was weren't told or given the option to eat or out. Having paid I asked for two plates to eat inside only to be told it was extra. Now baring in mind the shop is empty and probably 20 people had come in and left without buying anything in the short time we were they due to cash only, I asked the lady if wea could eat in without paying extra especially as I'd gone back to get cash and they fact they were losing hundreds of pounds an hour. The lady wanted to help but had to ask a youngish male who I believe was the duty manager. Well, what an arrogant, awful, narrow minded male he was. Didn't even look up at us and consider it would make business sense to have people sat in the restaurant for others to see. He was a simple no. If the owner of the actual business sees this. Please retrain your staff as that male is awful and not someone you want fronting your business. Now onto the food. The traditional steak was OK but nothing amazing. Pastry was a tad dry, more onion than steak and had better out of Cornwall. The lamb and mint was very under seasoned and lacked mint. I would...

The service of two customers ahead of me was atrocious. The young male server was actually shouting at them to tell them their simple order of 2 warm medium steak pasties was not possible at 11am, as there were only lamb or veggie pasties left. God forgive them when they asked for warm sausage rolls instead if possible as the server again just huffed and got them their food and drinks. I was next, so I asked if they had any warm or hot large steak pasties if there was no medium. Well, my response was, "Did you not just hear me tell the other customers there was only mint or veggie left!" I was two hours into my motorcycle journey heading home to the Highlands of Scotland. I just wanted a coffee and something nice and, if possible, warm/hot to eat, so I took the large cold steak pastie and drink. When I'd finished my food and drink I looked for a waste bin, of which there wasn't any for customers waste outside, so I took it inside and asked one of the maturer lady members of staff where I should put my waste. "Accross the road and in the triangular area!" she barked at me. I instead placed it on one of the messy trays with other waste to the side of the sales area, thanked them all, without response, and left. What a terrible impression your staff made on me for your premises and the local area. I was also looking for future holiday destinations for my family and I on my way home, I've told my wife, "Bude, is definitely not...

It would have been 2 stars were it not for us visiting Palmers in Tavistock on the day we left where we got the true pasty experience.

So we tried this one first, apparently this was historically the place to go but was disappointing from the moment we walked in, the young guy serving was not pleasant in the slightest and boarding on rude, i get that he has probably served about 300 people that day before us but that is irrelevant, we were served once, we had one opportunity to see this place and that impression was poor.

As for the food. well, 2 large "Traditional" pasties were anything but. They were large, excessively large absolutely crammed in fact, in order, Onions was the most prevalent, veg, grease and something that may or may not have been meat. It was so stuffed bits kept falling on the floor, if it had been shaped the way it’s supposed to be it would not have happened but the seam along the top has clearly been designed help keep the contents within and fooling the customers in to believing they are getting value.

Having had a truly perfect pasty for significantly less cost, this place is an abject failure, capitalising on a captive audience who knows no better, avoid, there are some other places that are less prominent that may be...
