I'm originally an East Londoner from Bow, whose parents moved away in the 70's. I began working back in the area in the early 80's and again became a regular at Kelly's. However I haven't been back since I stopped working there 14 years ago and as I live on the Kent coast it's now too far. So I was utterly amazed and delighted to see this 'proper' pie and mash shop whilst visiting my daughter and out shopping in Rochester with her. The man behind the counter is obviously a proper Londoner too (speaks just like me 😜). Having suffered and been without for so long, I was greedy and ordered 3 pies with Liqour (no mash.... Obviously!) The surroundings and the excellent food genuinely took me back to my childhood days. Didn't take me long to start reminiscing and regaling my daughter with memories, as she'd never tried it before. (I'm a terrible mother! 😉) The pastry was delicious and the mince meat filling was tasty and sinew free. Plus the Liqour was lovely and authentic. Read moreAbsolutely horrible went in there before to have food wasn't great and then went In there today asked the lady if my son could use the toilet and hes only 5 and because my other 2 chikdren came in with me and needed the toilet a man came out and had a massive go at me and my children that if we weren't paying customers we were not allowed to use the toilets. He upset myself and my kids and saying there were other customers waiting even though there was barely anyone in there and told us very rudely to get out I won't be returning for anything there again as it clearly isn't family friendly nor considerate towards young children I would not recommend this place if u want good service or kind customer care. I ended up in tears over the whole thing and found his attitude appalling. Also...
Read moreMe and my wife have been brought up on pie, mash and liquor in good old London town. And it makes a lovely change to find a great pie and mash shop in Medway. We've even tried to bring our children and grandchildren up on the stuff. This pie and mash shop is the only one that we've been to in the Medway towns and we've ALL actually enjoyed the whole plate full. Emmmmmm. No offense to the others that try to pull it off, but some of there efforts of good old pie and mash, well I've just gone through the motions of eating as much as I could just for the sake of me being hungry and just trying it. LOL But anyone that knows there stuff, will always know a good bit of the English persons meal. 🥰 Emmmmmm, ...
