Waited over 40 minutes for two Sunday roast beef dishes ( medium rare came the answer, when asked how we'd like our beef cooked)

The alarm bells ought to have rung when we saw staff offering drinks to apologise for delays, and for people to ask, (in the style of Grandad from Bread) " Where's me pudding?

Still, there was always a chance that our meal was being lovingly and diligently prepared.....

No chance... roast beef tougher than old boots, very medium quality - rare I've seen anything so overcooked describedxas medium rare. Three small deep fried Aunt Bessie's potatoes. Very soggy Yorkshire puddings, as though microwaved. All topped off woth gravy you'd hope..- think again. Drier than the Gobi desert, my friendxasked, " may I have some gravy please "? "Gravy? " came the response.... "yes, gravy please, this dish has none"..... "oh yes, I'll go and get you some"

The vegetables were cold.

I've no axe to grind, I'm not a competitor or a serial complainer? Read my other reviews. This was as...

We were treated disgracefully by the owner. She and two of her friends were bizarelly rude to me and my friend because our children, 2 and 18 months, played with christmas baubles on the tree. We were continually thrown dirty looks by them during our meal, they made it clear they were talking about us, and I was barked at by the proprietor because my son touched a bauble for about 10 seconds. My friend's little girl had a bauble snatched out of her hand by the owner's friend. There was me thinking Christmas and pubs were for jollity...

I must say all the other staff were lovely, and incredibly helpful in getting our food quickly when we had two hungry littluns on a Saturday early lunch time. Everyone around us thought our kids were charming so not quite sure what the problem was.

Shame the owner left us with such a sour experience. I think it's a pretty disgraceful way to...

Went in at lunchtime on a weekday. Plenty of people in there but we found a table. Ordered food and it tasted good so no complaints there. On the other hand, we went to the toilet and it was a whole different story. Could smell the urinals as we walked downstairs, so it was a welcome relief to get into the ladies where it did smell clean and fresh. Downside was a rather large hole in one of the toilet doors, rendering it useless, and tiles off the wall in another, so what looked like insulation exposed. The garden looked good (from the window) and the young lady who brought our food was very busy but pleasant. Lady behind the bar was a little abrupt and unwelcoming but not rude. Overall, good food but tired pub that could do with a lick of paint and a few repairs. Could be a great pub if inside looked as food as...

Whenever I'm in Rochester (which is infrequent). I always make it a point after shopping, to pop in to the Eagle pub. It has a nice comfortable and relaxed easy atmosphere with a great selection of beers available. They also do meals although I haven't tried those. The beers are served at just the right temperature and the staff are very friendly. The wooden theme throughout because it a lovely atmosphere and it's a great place to relax whether you're sitting at a table, at the bar or on one of the very comfortable settees. Dogs are welcome which is nice!

I came in for a quick drink and to meet up with friends. A good amount of seating was available, but it was very busy due to the charity MMA event nearby. Staff were friendly and service was quick despite how busy it was. The interior is decorated with a rustic vibe, and has lots of interesting old signs/advertisements to add to the character of the pub. The roasts looked really good too, but didn't have time for one and had already eaten so that will be one for the next visit
