Update Sept 2025
Staff were pleasant but seemed to forget about us in the bar area with the dog. It took over 90 minutes to get 2 starters and 3 mains (one starter was incorrect). We felt we only got the mains because we went up to the bar to remind them. Food was nice, but not worth it for the poor service.
No problem getting a table for 3 (plus doggy). The set lunch menu was reasonable value, but the problems came with mum's meal.
She ordered the sea bream with rocket and a pea and prawn risotto and instead received a sea bream salad. It transpires this was a miscommunication from the waitress to the kitchen.
Thankfully, dad and I were having starters, so mum's 'correct' meal was brought at the same time as our mains. This time, the risotto had been made with no prawns! Surely the whole point of a pea and prawn risotto is the presence of peas... and prawns??
The waitress disappeared off to the kitchen again and reappeared to tell us that the chef had forgotten to add the prawns. We weren't offered the missing prawns, but we're given a discount from mum's meal.
I ordered the salmon with tenderstem and new potatoes which was small but very nice. Dad had the treacle ham, eggs and chips, which he enjoyed, but the chips, although cooked, had no colour to them, sadly.
All in all, it was OK, but, for the price,...
Read moreWe went for a Sunday Roast at lunch time, it wasn't busy & we had booked. We were told that they were out of cauliflower cheeses so ordered a different side of pigs in blankets. When our roasts arrived they had forgotten the stuffing & the pigs in blankets weren't cooked enough, so, I asked for it to be cooked more, & we asked where the stuffing was. About 5 mins later 3 slices of stuffing arrived on a sideplate that were all different sizes & then about 5 mins after that the pig in blanket arrived but it was much better cooked. I don't like writing negative reviews. The food was nice, but it was unfortunate to not have all of the roast ingredients on the plate when it's first served to you, and something like sausage & bacon really should be cooked properly. The trat of the food was lovely, the vegetables were nice. The roast potatoes weren't like a normal roast potato they were crispy on the inside & hard on the middle. The pub is lovely, the staff were friendly, but sadly our Sunday Roast was not what...
Read moreWe came for Christmas Day dinner, our first time dining out for the holiday as we sought a change from cooking at home. We were, however very disappointed by the small portions and the overall quality of the food, especially considering the £85 per adult price. The flavors were underwhelming, and I did not even eat my starter or dessert. Frankly, we felt the meal, including the coffee and single truffle, was not worth the cost and we just wanted to go home so we left as quick as we could , really put a downer on our day . The service was excellent, with very attentive staff, but that is the only positive aspect I can mention.
** Just to reply to the review for others seeing this I have actually made a complaint via email now due to this dishonest response from Coach and Four which you can see in...
