I recently visited the Hoopers Wilmslow store to purchase a jacket for my mother. I am a resident of Wilmslow and I work in an office down the road, so I have been visiting Hoopers for more than 20 years. I must say this is the first I have rated them, however it's not the first time I have been more than a little disappointed with their customer service - or lack thereof! On entering the store, although the appearance of the shop is immaculate, the staff invariably look at me as if I am unworthy of their custom. On this occasion, I was looking for an expensive Basler jacket (little did they know!) and when I went to purchase the item at the till the middle-aged woman was distant and cold in her manner, even intimidating. The jacket turned out to be unsuitable so the following week I returned it. Another middle-aged woman served me and looked more than a little disgruntled that I was returning something expensive and then gave me a dirty look whilst stating the jacket looked crumpled. Then she turned away and muttered to her colleague "this is going to have to be steamed" making me feel as if I had done something wrong! It had simply been folded in the carrier bag. At no point did she smile and barely even looked at me. Whilst processing the refund (clearly begrudgingly) she only said "please" once and her whole demeanor was arrogant and rude, something I wouldn't have expected from such a store or indeed from a middle-aged woman (clearly with ideas above her status!). I am fond of the store, however, I am repeatedly disappointed by the staff's vile attitude - and I know I am not alone...
Read moreReview for department store: Good source for high quality fragrances hugely let down by terrible customer service. When approaching the till to pay hard earned money for a gift item there was a female member of staff stood chatting with her back to me to the 2 women behind the till. As I waited patiently no effort was made to acknowledge a customer was waiting. When the ignorant Hoopers member of staff walked off the remaining 2 women had no smile, no apology and barely even made eye contact. In fact, they carried on in a 2-way conversation, even appearing disgruntled they had to deal with a customer!! What was even more surprising was that these were 'mature' middle-aged to elderly women who you would think know better. Maybe they think working in a shop in Wilmslow somehow puts them above their customers. Store manager...
