Very pleasant visit to this coffee shop. The coffee itself was clean and staff were vigilant about clearing the tables. Lovely range of cakes / buns…staff are very friendly and helpful….expected range of coffee / tea with the addition of seasonal flavours. Only 1 x toilet which was in need of a clean however this was the only downside…full disability access throughout and disabled toilet (toilet x 1 assessable for all - not specifically for disabled users) No parking by coffee shop use public car parks within the City

Thought we'd try "supporting local" and forego our regular big chain brand coffee this time. While the atmosphere and setting was intimate and tastefully done, and the coffee on par with Costa, the prices were higher and, although similar foods in hand, we didn't enjoy the breakfast burritos that much. The cheese and ham toastie was exactly the same and the service at least as good too. A good experience overall and worth the visit... just cost more than a bit more...pity.

Probably my favourite coffee shop in the area. A rustic look which is inline with the coffe #1 brand. I regularly go to enjoy a coffee and the quality is very consistent. The staff are very friendly. I find that when drinking coffee in some coffee shops it can sometimes leave a bad taste in your mouth. I found Drinking their smooth blend didn't cause such problem

I have been going to Coffee No 1 in Wells since it opened, it has been friends and family catch-up cafe of choice, this morning I walked and was greated by the most spectacular display of cakes, and decided to treat myself to the orange and passion fruit cheescake with a large latte - languishing at the back of the plate of cheesecakes was clearly a piece from the day before, the jelly was tired and lacklustre and the cheesecake was visibly dry. When the guy went to serve me the old piece of cheescake I asked if I could have a fresh piece as this was clearly from the day before, and I was told no they had to serve them as they come, I pointed out it was clearly yesterdays and I wanted a fresh piece to which I was told that they couldn't waste food - at no point did it cross his mind to give the customer what they were asking for - why would anyone pay full price for obviously stale food. I asked for the fresh piece and was refused again so I said fine - cancel the order - he seemed surprised and asked what the whole order to which I replied yes the whole order. I think the refund has been given I'll have to check as you can't see straight away with contactless. This was the first time I've been back to sit down since the lifting of lockdown, will I be going back probably not. If you want to sell food past its best reduce or give it away - don't fob it onto people as a 'take it or leave it' option. ...

Good place for meeting a small group of friends, for taking a child or 2 as there is a kids colouring station, dogs allowed in one half of the cafe and they even have dog treats & water set up.

Wheelchair accessible without needing help to get in.

The coffee is great and the white hot chocolate is yummy. They do a selection of hot drinks, herbal teas, fresh smoothies and also cater for vegan and those with other dietary needs I.e. oat milk, coconut milk.

Tables spaced out enough so you are not too close to others but I would recommend a table by the wall or window if you’re not keen on having people moving or queuing next to you, one or two chairs could do with replacing or re-upholstering as the cushioning was completely gone on mine, just be mindful when choosing your seats as most of the chairs are different styles so will provide different comfort.

Friendly, chatty,...

Must be the worst service in the area. Not sure why I go in there? Usualy luke warm coffee after you have waited for it for ages. Called in the other day and stood at the counter for at least a minute whilst two staff, having acknowledged me standing there, carried on cleaning up and another one just stood slurping from her drink with out a care in the world that there was a customer stood waiting. The ordered take-away coffees were then put into china mugs as the girl serving obviously had no interest in what she was doing and just wanted to get back to drinking her drink. To top the lot, another customer came in and stood at the counter trying to catch their attention and of the two who were still washing up, one said there's someone waiting and the other said "Let her wait". Unbelieveable. That was the final straw. definatly wont be going back in...
