Style over substance is the best way to sum up The Griffin. Their bountiful American Burger menu is populated by mouth-watering meat mountains that generally disappoint.

The blue-cheese beef burger was over cooked and lacked flavour for such a rich offering.

What the blue cheeseburger lacked in flavour was slightly made up for by the buttermilk chicken burger but sadly it quickly fell apart in our hands leaving greasy detritus where a burger once was.

The Korean chicken bites were the best but unfortunately there were so few in the portion it hardly justified the price tag.

The staff were nice, not overly friendly but pleasant enough. However the prices are high enough to turn any interaction sour as we were charged £5 for two glasses of soda water. No cordial. No lime or lemon. Just plain soda water with...

We visited your restaurant, which advertises an opening time of 3 PM. However, upon arrival, we found the establishment still closed at 3:45 PM. After knocking on the door, a staff member informed us that the restaurant might open in 30 minutes, though there was no certainty. Additionally, we were told the kitchen would not begin service until 5 PM.

As loyal patrons, we value clear communication and reliable service. Travelling a considerable distance with the expectation of enjoying your offerings, only to face such uncertainty, is disappointing. This situation not only undermines customer confidence but also reflects poorly on the establishment’s commitment to its clientele.

We hope this feedback is taken constructively and that steps are taken to ensure greater consistency...

Was in Frome for the day and a local friend recommended The Griffin to me for their amazing selection of burgers. When I reminded her that I don't eat meat, she said it wasn't a problem... And boy was she right! They have an AMAZING selection of burgers but also some absolutely fantastic non-meat versions. I had the Veggie Blue Cheese Burger and my partner had the Vegan Buffalo Fried Ch*Kn Burger. I also ordered the Mac n Cheese and he had some loaded fries. It was all absolutely delicious and the portions were huge! Our friends had some real meat burgers which they also loved.

The service was super friendly and the prices can't be beat. I'd recommend this spot to anyone and will definitely be going back next time...

Had a superb evening at The Griffin last night. The food was excellent. I had the double vegan cheeseburger, and my friend had the buttermilk halloumi burger. Delicious! Easy to order and even though the place was pretty full, we didn't have to wait long. A group of folk musicians were downstairs jamming away, and the great sounds drifted upstairs. We finished off the evening with a last drink downstairs listening and chatting to the various characters playing their excellent music. .... have now tried the food after the move to The Ship, and it is equally as good quality with superb service. Unfortunately, the ambience and clientele have deteriorated markedly from the Griffin.... hopefully, that may improve.

Lovely welcome from the barman, offered us great choice of bitters for our bitter shandies. The place had a great feel, and a lovely beer garden. However, the food was not good value. £21 bought us two shandies and two cheesy chips. While the shandies were LOVELY, the chips were small servings, unseasoned, slightly overcooked, and had melted cheese that had almost no flavour (melted mature cheddar would have been so much nicer). People should still come here, as the other food coming out looked nice, and the beer and welcome was great. However, the chips are a quick win that needs to be sorted to provide a decent snack to go with beer.

Food was amazing! Had the dirty fries, korean chicken burger and some buffalo tenders. Really well prepared exceptional flavour and texture and came out in good time. The sesame mayo on the burger in particular was god tier! Not a fan of the baskets, though. Service was fine, bartenders were really freindky and helpful, but the chap who brought our food out was very flustered and transactional. Drinks were modestly priced (£8 for a pint of Guinness and a half an Inch's cider) and really nice. This is absolutely the best food of this kind in Frome. Nowhere else comes close!
