Costa Coffee — Restaurant in England

I like the place and go in when I have to catch a train. It was unexpectedly closed yesterday morning at 9am so nearly missed my morning brew. Fortunately a member of staff arrived and it finally opened shortly after 9.30am. There was a rush in so had to wait to place my order as the woman before me ordered everything for 4 people... The lady serving was soon joined by another so had my 2 coffee to take away. Forgot to buy a newspaper though and discovered later they don't sell any on board, only food 😒 . The staff at Costa café was very pleasant and accomodating even when rushed off their feet! My flat white was really good and I had time to enjoy it on the platform before boarding the train. I would be curious to know what happened and if it happens...

Don’t bother going if you’re not a regular from what I can gather. Been twice. First time the older lady serving was more interested in having a ten minute chat with the lady she clearly knew in front of me than serving the queue of customers. Out of desperation and a cancelled train, went again today. The young man asked if I wanted my toastie heated up (?), and sighed when I said yes I would like my toastie to be warm. Practically threw my latte at me. No thank you, or “what can I get you?”, just “what do you want”. This in addition to the silly train station surcharge applied to the pricing; unsure what you’re paying the extra for as it’s clearly not...

Always try to pop in every time I head somewhere on the train.

The staff in here are lovely and friendly and couldn’t do enough to help you. They’re always happy to talk and make consistently great drinks, even when they’re rushed off their feet.

The seating area can get quite busy depending on which time of the day and which day you head in.

They also sell magazines, bottled drinks and snacks as well as other amenities for travel, making it a little different from other Costa branches.

Would definitely recommend if you’re travelling somewhere and need a hot or cold drink and something quick to eat...
