Just left gob-smacked! THEE most expensive place to eat in Skipton. After reading reviews, we thought we would try it. (Having had a great meal round the corner the night before @mustabs)
So the place was half occupied when we arrived, 8pm on a Sunday night. We were asked to sit in the lounge while the table was prepared. (Most were empty at this point) 2 minutes later, they shouted across for our food order from the bar.
A few minutes later we were shown to our table, and the food followed in seconds, which was fine, but at no point had we been asked for any drinks- of any sort!
We pulled a waiter & asked for 2 single Gordon's & diet tonics, which he got us after a few minutes... (Turns out these cost us £7.50 EACH)
NOT A MINUTE after our forks were put down, our mains arrived, which, to be fair the food was ok/ uneventful, again- no 'do you guys need anything?'
We felt honoured to get clean cutlery at this point, maybe things were looking up....just maybe
The restaurant was still on 30-40% full, so after our plates swiftly removed from us, a bill was presented to us, at over £50 for not a lot of food or drinks, or time spent, almost as though they wanted to knock off early
We both joked & said we've spent longer eating a big Mac & fries with a coffee (and the staff more attentive) than the £50+ we have just been taken for
If it was busy, fine If it was a special occasion... Nope
If it was a big group- I could understand
If you want good- Asian food, with or without drinks, I'm sorry to say, spend your money elsewhere
It was our last night of a trip away... Without the food, left a bitter taste in our mouths- and it seemed the staff simply didn't care!
Make your own mind up, but for us,...
Read moreExcellent Indian restaurant. Called on evening opening with out booking, as checked reviews first, and was located opposite Skipton bus station, where we were travelling to by bus from our hotel, on our mini- break They gave us a table for two, a nice restaurant, attentive smiling and chatty staff, and although only just opened for the night, the atmosphere was good with 3 other tables already occupied. The poppadoms and pickle- tray were good, as was the mains. My partner really enjoyed her Tikka- Masala, which had cream 'swirled' on the top and I enjoyed my Chicken Jalfrazi, but must say ' not a lot of Chicken, but far too many coursely cut onions ' filling the dish'.( Had to leave most of them, as simply too many to manage!!! - was like 3 large uncooked Onion Bhajies had been put in the dish! Ideally less onions more chicken! Please. I would definitely go again, ( pointing out the above on ordering, and would recommend with the above Onion issue rectified ( and I love onions, but far too many...

Stumbled on this place by chance while looking for a different restaurant, looked good so we tried it and were not dissapointed.
Had poppadums and chutney first which came with a very nice pepper and onion chutney as well as the usual yoghurt and mango.
Starters was lamb chops and a chicken with potato dish which was really good. The potatos were similar to bombay potatos and the lamb had a sweet onion sauce.
Mains were another chicken and lamb set of dishes with naan and spicy rice, again really good. The portions are spot on and was stuffed by the end.
Good drink selection at good prices, we spend around 50 quid for 2 but thete do offer a 3 course for 10 quid deal during the week.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, had a nice chat with a couple of them.
If you get...
