Mastabs — Restaurant in England

They opened up 1hr earlier for us when we knocked which was lovely as it was freezing cold outside and we were passing through Skipton on our way back to London having been out and about sightseeing around Yorkshire all day. That was really nice of them.

Their attention to us was lovely, the meal was very cheap in comparison to our favourite Indian dish near Canterbury - almost half the price actually. Their northern hospitality was really nice.

The food was good but not excellent. The Indian we love is so flavoursome that the guy is catering our wedding and with his meals not only do you add nothing to it but you drink water just so you don’t miss out on any of the taste and flavour. With this meal we had to add salt, chutney, lemon etc to finally achieve the rich flavour we wanted. I would have liked to see more flavour going into the meals. Having said that, the tandoori lamb in my Makhani has that 10/10 rich flavour I was looking for. And despite having been cooked in the tandoor, it was tender enough not to be chewed for long and was very nice to eat. The king prawns in the king prawn puri were smaller than we are used to for king prawns and there could have been one or two more. That dish also needed chutney and lemon and salt to complete the flavour, but was nice. The lamb in the Makhani was a lot, they didn’t do that sparingly and that was nice. The puri and chapati were both made from whole meal flour and were quite dry. The chapati was very dry and hardened quickly and I’m not sure why. We prefer soft normal flour chapati.

All in all - 7/10 and if we are ever in the area we’d go back and ask for more flavour and non wholemeal...

I ordered a take away 2 meals at 19:30, at 20:49 I called to find out how long, I was told the driver picked it up 15 min ago. At 21:07 I called again the driver is on his way to you, so now I'm thinking the driver has had my food for 40 min. 21:25 food arrives. I asked the driver "when did you collect food" he said about 4 min ago. Yes it is Saturday night, yes it can be busy. I do not appreciate being lied to twice. Tell me, I'm sorry it has taken longer than expected we are really busy. That would have been better but to tell me it is on its way ti me knowing they haven't even cooked it really annoyed me. I don't know if I will use them again. It is the blatant lies that has annoyed me. I enjoy their food but I also enjoy the take away few doors away. honest experience, customer service was impeccable, regular checkups were like a hospital, interior design was on poiint.

the sanitizer station was on point due to regulation and circumstances, could do an upgrade with the outside sign.

the waiters skills are not messed with. parathas were small,felt like a kid so ordered another, chips made me feel at home, mam makes similar chips.

staff were very efficient, however one waiter had his fly open, pretty fatal error (if your reading this zip it now😅).

the bar made the locals very loud minus the bar, restaraunt would be better. chairs were comfy. best onion bajis ever in a restaraunt.
